So we've gone from a premium line to a slightly less premium line.

Disgusting that the new ticket office number od still effectively a premium rate number.
At least 7p a minute for gods sake, taking the Michael.
Guess they couldnt negotiate with ticketzone.

Come to think of it although its a new number id it still the same premium rate.

It stinks, and trying to announce on the news day of Joey' ban and HMRC raids on football clubs looks like they are trying to hide it

The way I read it is that we've now put in place an 01282 number for all queries into the ticket office and the new number (which is cheaper than the previous one) is for purchase of home tickets only.

Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce that two new contact numbers are now live and active for fans to use.

These two new numbers will ultimately replace the 0871 221 1914 and 0871 221 1882 premium rate numbers currently in place.

You can't imagine someone could begin an article with the above comment only to replace 1 premium rate number with another.

So would it be possible to claim you have a query about a ticket initially and subsequently purchase one during the same local rate phone call, or will they insist that you call back on the other number to purchase a ticket?

From what I read it is one number for queries and one for sales. I've been told that sales for home tickets via the phone are not high with an ever increasing number using the internet which also avoids any phone charges and includes free postage.

It is clearly the Ticketzone situation that is affecting the situation, the club would have preferred to have everything on an 01282 number. I suppose the sooner the use of Ticketzone reduces to a level where it is no longer needed, the sooner we can get rid of this number.

I'll do that every time, and if they refuse I'll not bother...

As said, I believe the 01282 number is for queries only - the other number is for telephone sales for home tickets when cheaper, easier options apply, certainly to people using the internet.

It will point to a landline number, which is the number you would dial as an alternative to avoid the charges for calling it

Having checked for 10 mins on BT's website; the 7p includes vat, so perhaps we should all be happy?
So I make it from BT to be 7p per minute + Service Charge.
Apparently a service charge is what BFC would charge, so I assume that is to be zero?

Now I love the online service, the problem is that this year on several occasions
tickets have been on sale over the phone but not online.
If that situation was to improve then, as long as you have a computer and can get online,
then this isn't much of an issue.
However, not everyone does have a computer or an internet connection.
Like so much in life these days unless you are computer literate you are being ripped off or at least life is very difficult.
e.g.
Claiming benefits, cheaper gas and electric deals, cheaper car and house insurance.
God help the elderly.

If that's the case then I'll certainly ensure it is taken up with the club. I know there are no phone sales for away tickets so that must be for home matches, but will certainly put it on our next agenda.

Tony: Yes, the problem looking back over my posts, has been with being a CFS ST holder.
2 FA cup games and the Middlesbrough game.

Middlesborough tickets available on the phone several hours before they became available online (I was purchasing an extra one for my daughter) so I had to ring.
I think Bristol City was chaos for everyone.
Lincoln (and I was trying to forget that game). We were told that we couldn't have our seats and that they would not be available online.
Mine never was, but my daughter's became available online. How was that when we both sit in the CFS?
The instructions as to how you bought a ticket elsewhere in the ground, if you were a ST holder in the CFS, and when you could do it, were very vague from memory.

Pathetic. And if they cant (wont) transfer you thats even poorer form.

For the negligible amount (grand scheme of things) this will make them, the least they could do was remove any chargeable calls.

A seperate number for sales and service is nothing but a money making excercise from fans.

So much good about the club at the minute but they still come up with some ridiculous ideas at times.

Why is the simple act of buying a ticket for a bloody football match made to be so
complicated and so expensive ? It beggars belief that you have to struggle and jump through hoops
to part with your hard earned cash.

Amateur doesn't begin to cover it.

It isn't complicated nor expensive. Our online ticketing system is quick and if you order there is no additional charge for postage. It's quicker, easier and cheaper than going through Ticket Zone for home games.

Its better now then it used to be, far far better, apart from the major issue they had when the season tickets went on sale, but that's just one of those things.

They've provided a cheaper phone line and people are still complaining?...
Even I'm impressed with them changing it and I'm known for having a whine on here about the ticket office.

Paying a premium rate number in this day and age is expensive and unnecesary and not being able to transfer between departments is unnecesarily complicated.

Not related to BFC but I needed to contact my motor insurance company's customer service team this evening on a premium rate number. Got four minutes of recorded messages about using their website before any menu options from the system. Then a further four minutes listening to silly music, interruptions telling me about the website again and being told I was next in the queue! I'd already checked their website and discovered that the answer to my query was not available on there. Eventually gave up.

From what I've read on here, it seems that the club understand that premium rate lines are to expensive. They've tried to remove them. But negotiations with a third party have failed. So they've done the next best thing and made the general enquires line a standard call line, and reduced the cost on the other. Well done the club I say. I'm sure as soon as they can they will get rid altogether.

This maybe a stupid question but why do the club have to sell tickets through this ticketzone? Why can't they sell them themselves? Is it part of the leagues rules that you have to sell tickets through this company or something? I find it all very odd.

I am a bit bemused that people think 7p a minute is expensive. How long are people spending on the phone? Surely it can't take more than a couple of minutes to purchase a ticket.
I'm more annoyed that it cost £5 to ship my recently purchased shirt and it took almost a week to get here.

" It's quicker, easier and cheaper than going through Ticket Zone for home games."

Simply comparing it to an alternative method, and claiming it's simpler and cheaper, does
not make it any more palatable.

I also beg the question as to why the club has to use Ticket
Zone. It's so easy to accept what is perceived to be the norm rather than challenge it and look
for an alternative, especially when it's a third party that stands the expense.

Lazy and selfish business practice in my opinion.

My mobile provider charges 55p per minute to 084* numbers, plus the 7p BFC will charge, so 62p per minute.

That's a premium rate phone line right there.

Hmm. I pondered this while dropping a log in the bathroom the other day. Would it just not be less stressful supporting a club who win everything?
Granted. It was a thought I put out of my mind instantaneously, but the fact I considered it is a worry. I am sure my grey hairs multiplied over that 90 minutes on Sunday

Just rang the 01282 number, picked option two, sorted out moving two tickets for the WBA game and adding a third one (so Son 2 can go) and was finished in four minutes.

Excellent service to be fair, though I've no idea if the transfer across meant I got on the 7 p a minute line or not.

A BT Land Line would charge 12p per minute to an 0844 number, plus the 7p, so 19p from a landline.

After the game obviously. Some people read books, some the newspaper. I squeeze mine in until after the game and then ponder the game. I have to point out. I always make a fry up on a game day morning and my stomach has a tendency to want to evacuate my bowels afterwards.
So while one half pebbledashes the porcelain, the other half contemplates the complexities of our most recent performance.

No. It will cost you the same. The only way it wouldnt is if you rung the 08 number directly. BFC will have transferred you internally so no cost to them or you (other than cost t oring the landline which is presumably zero)

This is how it should work.

Simple . Call the 01282 number. Tell them your out of the country and unable to call the non geographical number, ask to purchase tickets as required.

I am sure I have read somewhere it is illegal not to provide the alternative number for any Non Geographical Numbers

It is expensive when the club put tickets on sale at 9am when I'm at work, and whilst at work I'm unable to use the company internet for anything other than company business, hence this simple non-expensive option not an option.
If I want tickets I need to ring up and from my mobile, if the lines busy I could be in a queue for god knows how long.

This is a subject we'd been assured would be sorted. .......... Pi$$ poor from BFC (one of the most profitable clubs in the WORLD)
