Your highlight of the season
What has been your best moment of the season so far?
Mine has got to be the Barnes winner. The atmosphere was incredible.

I'm hoping it's going to be this weekend;us securing our Top Flight Status and R*vers tipping into the abyss of Associate Member's Status.
Pressed for something in the recent past it's hard to split the late winners at home to Crystal Palace and Everton, and Joey's vindication in scoring the winner against Southampton.

Re: Your highlight of the season
Its got to be Barnes v Palace, because until then it looked ominously familiar to the game v them the last time we were up when we threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2. To win it like that was amazing, and it was possibly key to why we are staying up this season.

Re: Your highlight of the season
Impossible question to answer unless you have a spare couple of hours.
Marney against Palace though, from his interception and calmness to play the ball out for the attack which led to Barnes' goal, to the tackle he made in the first half in our right back position just after he'd got a yellow card.

I think that that win played in their minds too, and worked against them also. They went reckless and pushed for a winner, evidently thinking we were a busted flush. It came back to bite them on the arse.Lancasterclaret wrote:Its got to be Barnes v Palace, because until then it looked ominously familiar to the game v them the last time we were up when we threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2. Barnes v Palace at home. The execution was top class and the roar that went up.............I think we - well, most of us - knew then that we had a damned good chance of staying up.

Re: Your highlight of the season
So many to choose from. Sam&Andre v Liverpool; Tom v Southampton&United; Ashley v Palace; Jeff v Bournemouth; Defour v Hull&Bristol City; Andre's hat-trick v Sunderland etc
However, the winner for me is how the whole squad have bonded into something greater than the individuals within it. The rock steady back 5, the frontmen playing and scoring from the scraps they are fed and the midfield struggling manfully against numerical disadvantage and illustrious players. The whole ethos of 'team' was highlighted for me at Selhurst Park by watching Andre getting stuck in in the right-back position then, a couple of minutes later, being in place to take Boyd's delightful pass and score our 2nd goal.

That's what I meant the feeling that we were pulling away from the relegation zone and also Barton's homecoming

Another for Barnes v Palace. The Arfield winner v Everton was a spectacularly brilliant moment, but the big sweep upfield, the instant where Barnes played a bad ball and it felt like the chance had gone, to a moment later the ball being in the back of the net was sublime.

The Everton last minute goal. We had been under a lot of pressure and was expecting them to score any second, so for us to break away and score was unbelievable. The celebrations in the cricketfield stand were wild.

Re: Your highlight of the season
Agree with all the highlights previously mentioned but I'll also throw in getting 2 big decisions in our favour at an away ground (the Flanagan 'challenge' on Zaha which, rightly or wrongly, could easily have been given as a penalty and the Zaha 'offside' which wasn't.

getting past Derbys 11 point PL low. Many thought we wouldn't.
The whole squad ethos. We've had very few poor performances and a lot of bad luck.

Re: Your highlight of the season
yes for me the sublime moment of Marneys interception being switched on when we were up against it emphasized what we are all about and Barnes doing what Barnes does best with his emphatic finish
It sent a tilde wave of a buzz right over to our pub were we was watching in Malaga it was shear electric to clinch the game in pure euphoric style like that

as you can't pin staying up onto one particular instance (and even if you could, it might not happen until Saturday at the earliest), I would agree with Bin Ont Turf with Defour's goal. A worldy in any league

Barnes v Palarse for me too - it was the point in the season where for me we showed what he hadn't done in previous PL campaigns - real belief. To blow a 2 goal lead and still win it has made our season imho.

Heatons performance at Old Trafford.
Keane's form and an England cap.
The Palace game(s) the one at the Turf was a belter to watch.
The home form and clean sheets.
Grays goal and celebrations at palace.
Hopefully there's still the main highlights to come.

At the moment it's Gray absolutely belting in the second goal away at Palace to secure our first away win. Still time for it to be eclipsed though

Brady's equaliser on his debut. It was the first time Courtois had been beaten by a free kick
Going behind to Chelsea usually means defeat, but it was his debut too. A great point v this years likely PL champs
