Still the best dead ball striker I think I have seen. My favourite example was the corner that whizzed across in front of me at Brighton when Keane equalised. Good luck next season Matty.

Shame he didn't feature much when he joined, I believe he could have been the difference.

Has scored a few goals for Northampton this season too.

Wonderful left foot. A proper footballer.

I flew over for the Man utd game and the day before took in the Bury - Northampton game.Matty played really well and nearly scored a great free kick. The player that stood out in that game though was Bury's James Vaughan.He scored two real quality goals and was everywhere,he looked way too good for that level.

Real shame he got that injury in his first season, I think he could have made a big difference for us in the Premier League. Brilliant left foot that got us a fair few goals last season.

I checked him up in a reasonably recent game for them and they had him in a defensive holding role in a sort of 4-1-3-2 formation and I thought that wasn't going to end well. I think they lost 4-1. Agree with the above. He has a wand of a left peg. If that is how he was employed at the Cobblers over the season then they missed out on his attributes.

Scored a cracking goal at Forest last season and one or two similar for Northampton early in the season.

He won us some vital games with that left foot.

He is also a 'top bloke', from my perspective. My nephew asked his best man....whose mate knew Matty, if it was possible to get a shirt signed by the Championship winning squad, at the end of the season. Matty sorted it out and my nephew presented it with me a month ago. Right out of the blue!

Didnt he miss the penalty against leicester? That said he had the balls to take it. Unlike one liverpool bound player... matty taylor gave 100% for burnley andi was sad to see him go.

VEry good player for us. He shouldnt have been allowed to take that penalty given that he hadnt kicked a ball in months. But that was because he wanted to and someone else didnt...

Met him at Brighton away last season. TOP character and went out of his way for my nephew, signed his shirt then took him to the team coach to meet the rest of the team. Kept referring to my nephew on name terms too. Little thing but made a massive impression on him.

He could open a tin of beans with that wand of a left foot.
Paul Smith did it first though.

Such a shame he missed that one, but at least he had the guts to step up and take it.
