We've only played Barnet three times on the Turf - the two league games we won 3-0 and 5-0 and we won a League Cup tie 3-2 in 2011.

Most of Steve Cotterill games in his final 12 months.
Particularly Luton at home.

That city game was a masterclass. Bernabia, Wright-Phillips, BErkovic, Wanchope, Huckerby, Goater - all far too good for that level.

Was excited when we got that penalty. All downhill from there.

Darlington away (at the Riverside)

Sure I've put this on here before, but I was due at work at 3 am, my car heater packed in going over the A66, it was very foggy and I was so annoyed after the result I took the wrong exit (in the fog) and ended up at Yarm before realising.

Never got that close since, but I did chuck my little Burnley kits out of the car whilst u-turning at Yarm

Yeah, I've not really had a 'never again' moment.

But it was boring enough around 1988-90 and the mid-2000s for me to wonder if it was worth it. Terrible I can handle, but almost nothing happened for years around those times.

I stopped going to home games that season. It was dire. Still went to some away. People who moan about our style now must have forgotten those performances under Cotterill.

Could have been worse - you could have been watching us at Barnet - I think that was a nil nil - and the only highlight was the steward who looked like Mr Bean (and how he suffered for it).

No one wants to be ill but at least it spared me that game - listened to live commentary on Radio Lancs and at 2-0 up with 9 minutes to go I sensed what was about to happen.

Yep. I take as much glee in Coyles subsequent failures as the next person but it's impossible not to be thankful to him for rescuing us from that.

After we lost 1-0 to Rochdale's 9 men at Turf Moor.
I stuck with them through thick and thin till then, but that pushed me over the edge, and I didn't go on for a while after that. (It's the only real gap I've had in well over 50 years).

Being too polite to say no to spending a good portion of my Birthday at the mother in laws (inclusive of various other in-laws).

Proceedings descended into the usual family squabble amongst themselves.

To be fair I could have sold tickets for that event.

And I think we lost that day too.

The never again moment following Burnley was at the last play off final at Wembley.

A sh1te journey down and then having to wait in the coach park on a stifling hot coach for around an hour after the match.

If we ever get to Wembley, never again will I go on a coach.

It wasn't any better via car either. We arrived within half a mile if Wembley at 10.30 and still in the car at 12.30 waiting to park up. We all decided on the way home that it's a weekender next time we manage to get there.

Exactly my thoughts.

Did weekenders for the Sherpa Van and the Stockport one.

I don't know why I changed tact for the last one.

Next time, drive down and come off the M40, at Jnct 4, High Wycombe station is less than 2 miles off the junction, catch the train to Wembley Stadium station ( c. 30 minutes )....

Hopefully, the next time you'll need this advice is to see us in a Cup final, rather than play-offs !! UTC :D :D

0-0 v Luton - think it was the last game of our 18 game winless streak under Cotterill. I promised my eldest that I'd never ask him to go with me again. He's a Liverpool fan now.

His little brother has a season ticket at the turf though - it's all about the timing....!

I trained it to Wembley in '09. Went down the East Coast line from Retford(long story). Tube from King's X up to Kilburn. Drank loads in the sunshine on Kilburn High Road. Tube up to Wembley on the Jubilee Line. Even had time to visit fiends in Cricklewood(no fixed abode) before catching an East Coast train back to Retford. It was chock full of miserable, but gracious, Sheffield Utd fans. To a man they wished us well in the Prem.

Hull at the Turf, early November 2007. We lost 0-1 to a side who came for a 0-0 and managed to score despite not really seeming to make any great effort to.

I walked off saying to my mate "That's it, I'm not watching another game with Cotterill in charge".

Fortunately, that turned out to be his last game.

Who could have predicted the next decade's journey after the interminable torpor of that time under the malign spell of Cotterball?

Whisper it quietly on here, but we've a lot to thank Owen Coyle for.

Just for balance, we've a lot of reasons to think he's a w*nker as well.
