Certainly a clearing out job over the summer - 5 on loan to return to their parent clubs, along with many out of contract.

League income now down to one million from six million. The few remaining high earners will be off. Will money be available to Mowbray or whoever to stop the rot? I can't see where it can or will come from.

From their forum: "When was the last time there was a situation like this and all three teams at the bottom won? An indictment of the Championship if there ever was one. A terrible league and it's embarrassing that this is the second professional tier of English football."
If that's how they feel, they're probably better off out of it.

Our team for next season will be centred around our superb academy, which it should have been anyway long before now, instead of loans and freebies.

They're just doing a Boro - suddenly dislike the division they've been relegated from and suggest they never wanted to be in it anyway.

As a league 1 club Wovers get £1 million quid off sky next season. Burnley stay up in the Premier League and get a minimum of £100 million quid. Oh what a weekend

You'd be best waiting until the season after when you're in League Two, before you start putting too much pressure on academy players.

Truth be told, it makes little difference. Even if we stayed up, we would be mid table at best carrying on with freebies and loans. At least a different approach now has to be taken.

Yep - cutting spend even further; lower attendances; more acrimony; worse players...continuation of the slippery slope.

I did raise this with some friends earlier. looks odd when the bottom 3 (ignoring those already down) all win...and two of them away. Be surprised if it happened on any other weekend this season but will check.

As far as i'm aware unless there are additional payments for overseas rights, the solidarity payments are:-
Championship - 30% of the third years parachute payment of £14 Million = £4.2 Million
League One - 4.5% of the third years parachute payment of £14 Million = £630,000
EDIT
Apparently there is a 'basic award' of just over £2 Million for each club in the Championship in addition to the solidarity payments, haven't a clue what that is in League One but it'll be a fraction of that, add to that the fee for being televised of £100,000 for a home side and £10,000 for the away side in the Championship. They'll hardly be on the box so that will be missing from their budget as well.
Not looking good for the balance sheet is it.

and the good news is, they will continue to struggle next season too. Not much chance of bouncing back anytime soon.
its a hard division, and they won't find it easy.

You will most likely need to do a Bolton and sell your training ground/academy to make up the further shortfall from TV/League income to go along with your gloryhunting fanbase jumping ship to either attend Accrington, Burnley or Preston.
That''s right - some of the turncoat fans you acquired in the early 90's will be at Turf Moor next season. It's a sickening thought, but it's reality.

Highly unlikely the Venky's will continue to stump up the £2.3m per annum to maintain the academy status.
And when that's gone.......?

Aye, reight. Kids vs Div 3 cloggers. Just shows how much you know.
46 Cup finals for Rovers next season as Walsall, Shrewsbury, Gillingham etc will want to beat the former PL Champions.

As regards your opening statement Saxo, you really need to understand that the only words of any interest or relevance to us are your first two...
Enjoy the 3rd division. It'll be hard but it'll be good for your souls. And let's face it - it's not like you've never been there before.

How very dare you, football only started in 1992 according to the Blackburn (dwindling) masses.

You were happy to be taken over because you thought you could buy success again. Now that it hasn't worked out you're all complaining about the injustice of being taken over.
When you freely accepted the kings shilling then you also have to accept the risk of being all at sea.

22 points from 15 games in charge is not the form of a loser. And that was with a poor team put together by OC. If they keep him they could bounce straight back. Knowing the Venky's you are probably correct in thinking he will be gone by Xmas.

It was even more bizarre in 1998 if my memory serves me correctly.
Man City needed to win away to have any chance of staying up. A win could have taken them above any one of about 5 other clubs who were all also away from home (Huddersfield? Portsmouth? Crewe?). They all won and Man City went down.
