Far be it for me to take advantage of the struggles of another club but I did think it was only right and proper that I wrote about our close neighbours suffering relegation.

It's an excellent summing up of the whole situation CT.

For anyone feeling a twinge of sympathy for them, just think back to the mid-nineties
when JW came in. They used to wave banknotes at rival fans and sing
"We've loads and loads o' money." Two hats.

Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

Burnley 3 Blackburn 3, FA cup tie 1960 sticks in my throat, 3- nil up when ref gives an appalling penalty for handball against Alex Elder. We lost Ewood replay otherwise we would have won the double!

"We’re having a party because they’ve gone down I believe. Count me in. I dislike them just as much as I did all those years ago. I can still hear their gloating fans from back in the Walker days when they thought this day would never happen. Well it has, they’ve got what they deserve and I’m enjoying every single minute of it."
In a nutshell !

One other thing I forgot to include which I'd intended was referring to my match report when we beat them in 2014. I wrote then: "They can't hurt us any more." They certainly can't now.

I'm sure most of that wonderful article was pre-prepared.

It's been a while coming, but finally it's happened. Bastards have returned to their natural level.

Not one word was pre-prepared believe it or not. I didn't dare write anything until it had happened.

One other thing I forgot to include was that they got so up themselves they thought Manchester United were their rivals. Looks as though they will have to concentrate on Bury, Oldham and Rochdale now.

Fair do's CT.

My point was it was quickly up on the site, but I suppose it's been in your head for a long time. I know it's been in mine.

I too didn't dare believe it was going to happen. We aren't normally this lucky. Should've realised there was no luck involved. Just a good team getting their just desserts, and a shite one getting theirs.

Deserve everything that's thrown at them, smug arrogant sods thought we were gone in 87, they could never envisage us ever catching them up again, good bye. Enjoyed reading that CT.

Another gem from their forum:

"What brought it home to me was on the train back, a couple of young Rovers fans came over to us, still full of optimism, hoping we'll have a good season next time. My heart broke for them, they've seen nothing but pain. Jack left a legacy for future generations and these disgusting people have trashed it."

It's this kind of attitude that makes me think that a good number of them still have a lot to learn (and I don't mean the kids).

UTC!

I was the same I always thought they'd sneak it. I didn't tune in until the last 5 mins and even then it was tense.
Won their last two and dropped with 51 points. I think they've got a decent manager at the helm but will he stick it out?

Thankfully they stuck with Coyle long enough for the damage to be irreparable.

Earlier this afternoon just afternoon just after my Rovers season ticket next door neighbour arrived home from the pub I posted a sympathy card through his letterbox and left a can of lager on his doorstep.

He threw them both back over my fence five minutes later which I thought was a bit off.

That card cost me £1.50 but the beer tasted much nicer knowing it had been returned.

I am revelling in this today and will continue to do so.

Even my own mum won't answer her phone to me.

I always honestly thought they'd take the drop.

They've been in the bottom three for so long, there was no reason to
assume they'd get out of it. They're crap.

That's a great read Tony.

And what a great Tweet from the club: "Due to results elsewhere we're relegated"!

The club is as deluded and lacking in self-awareness as its shrinking number of fans.

The relegation has much more to do with the fact they could only get more points than two teams out of 24 over 46 games.

To quote Imploding Turtle...'Idiots'!

Walker left the club with trustees who didn't want it and sold out for the rupees. But to be honest I don't care who's to blame and I'm enjoying the party.

Don't forget Wigan, Fleetwood, Doncaster, Rotherham, possibly Blackpool, possibly Bradford - they have so many local derbies next season.

Justice for me that the pie-munchers also went back to where they should be this season.

Both teams lorded it over us after being put in false positions with money they should never have had.

A very satisfying day.

Great read Tony.
NNN (The Wild Rover) dates back to at least the 60s. Back before the "B" word wasn`t used in the song.
And Paul Cook was not "Slagged off" by us!

I did some checking last night, and I believe The Wild Rover came into being when Blackburn went two divisions below us. It was always 'Come to Ewood, come to Ewood," in the 1960s along with the song that reference eagles and wings and crows of course.

Thanks Tony, a great read.

Brought back a few hard-to-take memories from 80's but one memory from more recent times was just before Dyche was appointed and it was Clarets, Rovers and Bolton all looking for a new manager at the same time (and I think Blackpool were too just a few weeks later). Who would be the right man, Dyche, Berg or Freedman? I know the board knew they had the right man but just imagine things could have been so different.

I get the sentiments of the article Tony, believe me. But I have to say the fate of a team pillaged by its owners and where fans whose only fault is to delusionally believe Rovers are a better club than Burnley deserve at least some sympathy.

Thats not to say I'm unhappy about the turn of events, especially as there was a scenario where they could have lost and stayed up, and yet they won and still went down.

But thank God we are not at the mercy of capricious owners.

Great article Tony.

Living in Clitheroe in the nineties was painful. Too many arrogant Blackburn fans who thought the good times would last forever. After our 5 nil defeat at Ewood they were giving it plenty and I remember telling them "they may have won the battle but they will never win the war". Well today feels good and I think victory is in sight.
