Will Keane play again for BFC

With us effectively safe barring an unlikely goal swing, have we seen the last of Michael Keane?

With Keane off at the end of the season if the transfer rumours are correct. Would the club risk a long term injury to their prized asset?

Also would Sean like to further see the effectiveness of the combinations of Mee, Long, Tarks in CD over the next two games in preparation for next season's campaign.

Maybe Keane will be allowed to come on for the last couple of minutes against WHU to say goodbye as he's been a fantastic servant over the last few seasons.

I don't go in for all this conspiracy theory stuff. If he's fit he'll play, if he's not he won't. I'd like to see the club tell Dychey that he can't play him!

As much as I'd like him to stay it does look like we'll be made an offer we can't refuse. With a ready made replacement in Tark I'm not too worried. If we can get £25m for him and bring in a couple of decent midfielders then it will be a good piece of business.

There is no point in us playing him, unnecessary risk if we do.

Presume it was an unnecessary risk for all West Brom players on Saturday as well?

He might have a role in the last game as a final send off. I'd expect Tarks to replace him, with Long stepping up as primary benchwarmer

Why wouldn't he play? If we were strapped for cash and NEEDED to sell then it might be different but we're not.

Having said that, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Mee and Tarky play v West Ham as this looks to potentially be next seasons preferred centre half pairing.

They might be. Who knows. Nothing to play for so why would they take the risk of them getting a serious injury meaning they can't play for them or anyone else next year?

It would be stupid of us to risk him, we could be stuck with an injured worthless Michael Keane next year who will leave for absolute nothing next year. It's important we ship him out to the highest bidder ASAP, £25M is still a lot of money to us, lets not pretend we can afford to take stupid risks.

He will need to recover from his calf problem before we even consider the merits of "resting" him , he is injured end of.

No and I hope he doesn't

As much as I like Keane I would be gutted if he broke his leg meaning he would spend his last year recovering and then leave on a free

He will play. As far as SD is concerned he is a Burnley player until someone makes a proper offer and puts up the money for him. As such he plays. Assuming he is fit of course.

Long and Tarks did a job on Saturday, though I don't see us conceding either goal with Mee and Keane at the back. Every place higher in the final table is worth £2 million - plenty of incentive to play the very best defensive pairing we have.

I'd like to think Dyche has more understanding of the situation than a simple ''he is a Burnley player until someone makes a proper offer and puts up the money for him'' because it's inevitable somebody makes an offer for him, if he's fit. The only way he doesn't leave is if he's seriously injured then we're stuck with an injured want away player who will leave for nothing in 1 years time. Why would we risk an almost guaranteed £25M income over playing MK in a few pretty meaningless games to try and gain potentially an extra £2M, wouldn't make sense IMO.

Presumably Keane will also refrain from training, running, or getting out of bed?

It's £2m per place, KRBFC - there's about £12m to play for.

Pure business sense and Burnley Football Club Ltd is a business

Risk v Reward = Keane does not play.

I think he deserves to come on for the last game against West Ham
so that the fans can say their goodbyes assuming he's off which seems more than likely.

I will be more than a little pxxxed off if we give Keane away at £25m.
The guy is a full England international and worth £40m any day.
We don't need to sell at all but if we decided his heads been turned we need a replacement.
Alfie Mawson if Swansea go down or Maguire from Hull of they go down .Both look to have quality.

If this is OK everyone, I'm in full agreement with KRBFC on this.

We are already assured of Premier League football next season (the maths is too much to say we are in any danger). So, Premier League £100 million is already banked. (There is timing to when the tv is paid - but it is coming).

Every place higher is worth additional £2m. We'd need to be 12 places higher to offset against the possible £25 million for a fit Michael Keane> And, we've seen what James Tarkowski and Kevin Long can achieve. We should now be setting our stall out to achieve (minimum) 40 points in May-2018 and be on course for a 3rd season in the Premier League.

We can't risk any of that for an additional 90 x 2 minutes of watching Michael Keane in Claret and Blue. He was magnificent at Selhurst Park, just as James Tarkowski was - and Ben Mee has been in many games this season.

Now, if Michael Keane was ready to sign a new contract.... But, I'm afraid he's worth a lot more to someone else than our wage structure can afford to pay.

Let's celebrate what Michael Keane has achieved - and what Burnley FC have achieved.

We do need to sell, we also owe it too MK to let him leave IMO, he's done his absolute best for us, he deserves his move and we shouldn't be stepping in the way. It's not in our nature to step in players way which I like, we develop then sell and the conveyor belt continues to run. We're a selling club and always will be regardless of what our manager/owners say to the media to act like we're not to try and force the price up. £25M is a lot of money for us and is a fair price IMO.

It's not giving away when he will basically be one window away from having no value at all. And that means, if he's not going to sign a new deal then we do need to sell.
