The Daily Mirror (I know) say Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to fight over his signature, and for upwards of £25m.
I'm still astounded that we could be selling a player for that much money.

The "upwards" sounds great.

If we are talking about £25m in May, we will be talking about £35m in July.

Keep them talking, keep pushing Burnley - we will be able to get a good auction going very easily here.

I would be very disappointed if we got anything less than £35m for him personally considering where the market is and the fact that there are several clubs supposedly after him rather than the one club that chased the lesser (IMO) Stones.

It would be beneficial to us to get a bit of an auction going over him. If we could get Liverpool, Everton, and Man Utd sniffing 'round him, we could make an absolute mint from this.

Can only see him going to utd if they really want him. After all they're gonna save 25% or whatever and that's gonna translate to about 7m quid.

We're definitely in a position where we don't have to sell to a low-ball offer, like we have been in the past. We can't allow his contract to expire, but we still don't have to be bummed, sans butter, like we would have been in the past.

I don't think £25 million is that much for a young England international. Not in today's world.

I'd expect more like, "Starting off at £25 million".

I don't personally think its beyond the bounds of possibility that Keane will stay. The lads level headed and needs to listen to the likes of Dyche. I would be staggered if he chose Liverpool knowing his United connection and support for the club. That said if he went to United I can't see him being anything but a bench warmer and thats something the lad doesn't need at this stage in his development.

If you want some entertainment, have a look at what the Liverpool fans are saying about Keane on twitter, they're not happy (as always, twitter seems to have the more "eccentric" viewpoints, Liverpool fans I've talked to seem quite happy with signing Keane)

We don't have to sell but the price will eventually collapse, as we get well into next season.

in the current climate he will be going for 35 million plus....not saying he or anyone else is worth that sort of dosh but what is the going rate for a young proven england international?

This as the potential to be one of the transfer saga's of the summer involving potentially 4 of the big 6 clubs. As much as we may want to, we will struggle to keep this one undisclosed..

30 m plus a player in our direction would be nice. The market shifted massively last summer so these are the going rates for these players. Exactly why we should look abroad or in lower leagues for talent. Let someone else pay the massive transfer fees and wages.

From what I've read Utd is his dream move.
Any auction helps as he is under contract but it's Keane who signs the papers and chooses his own career path.
With Utds discount I'd hope we can get them over £35m and leave us with a very nice net profit.

Still hope he stays but unlikely.

He'd never been a full international before either but he is now. I wouldn't be surprised if he went on to become captain one day.
Starting price = £30 million in real terms so if Utd are interested, the figure needs to raised by however many percent.

Certainly not for a defender which a club can get ten full years out of at the top. I wouldn't be gutted at 25mil though given how little we paid for him. But I think we'll get more.

Comparison to John Stones is the benchmark for me and I think Keane is technically Stones's equal, hard to gauge for Burnley but became apparent when you watched Keane for England.
Stones has played with better players around him for Everton and Man City.
The key point is the physicality kKeane is stronger and faster and better balanced.

price depends if goes to MU and they waive there mark up, versus any other team, 20 to MU is more than 25 to others I believe

Keane's preferred choice is Man Utd so how would there be a bidding war? It just comes down to good negotiations or bullshitting the buyer.

In the past we have been to honest and straight forward in our dealings especially selling players, other clubs shall i say have not.

Keane is going. I only hope Keane doesn't get injured badly playing in Englands June fixtures because no deal can be completed until July 1st and in that scenario he would be staying!!.

I'm not certain that's the case on the date. The 1st July is when contracts run out but he's not out of contract and a deal can be struck at any time.

I'd love to know who you think we've sold on the cheap. I think we are excellent when it comes to selling players in terms of what we get for them, players such as Chaplow, Blake, Akinbiyi, Thomas, Gray, Lafferty, Fletcher, Rodriguez and even Austin given what had happened with Hull.

We dont sell our players on the cheap. We use our bargaining power to get the best deal we possibly can. If we dont have much bargaining power, we dont get as much money as we do when we have lots of bargaining power.

I have my share of things i think the club could have done better over the years - although that is itself a shortening list these days - but our approach to selling players is definitely bit on the list, and never really has been.

If Keane goes this summer, we'll get good money for him.

I'm more and more convinced that he's going back to Old Trafford but I hope he's not being as badly advised as he was a year ago when his advisers and family were trying to get him to Leicester.

I'm not sure I want much else from United though, Keane apart our record of getting players from there has hardly been successful.

From his point of view, it must be brilliant to go back to United. His boyhood club. They're crying out for a centre half and he's better than Smalling and Jones. He and Bailly could compete with any centre half pairing around. I'd be a little disappointed if he went elsewhere to be honest.
