I thought the contract with Puma had ended after this season but the club has told me next season will be puma so another boring template kit

Who would offer us anything other than a 'template kit'?

All we need is a kit that is proper BFC Claret and blue. No fancy tarting up thanks, it's Burnley not Barcelona

Another year in the Premier League....No debt...A new Training Ground...£40 million spent on players...Our best team in decades... Bastards relegated to Div 3. They can play in bin bags next season as far as I'm concerned (with Claret & Blue hooped socks obviously )

Although it's Puma on the kit, our contract is with a company called Genesis and we will get template kits (with no hooped socks either next season).

Errea, the previous company allowed you to design your own kit which is why we signed a one year extension with them in 2009/10 so we could have that 50th anniversary kit. We signed another deal with Genesis, not sure how many more years it is.

Genesis was bought out last year by Puma, prior to that Genesis were Puma licensees. All the major brands develop design templates each season but clubs can have their own bespoke design if they choose to and are prepared to pay a premium. It comes down to club choice. The club gets involved in the design and are given a choice of styles, collar types, etc., so it's not strictly speaking an off shelf design. Remember it's restricted by a combination of club colours, Pumas styling and what the club likes. The likes of Arsenal and Dortmund pay for a higher priced fabric and a unique, bespoke design. Other clubs like Burnley, Leicester, Wolves etc., tend to choose a less expensive fabric and a more templated design. It all comes down to margins and how many shirts the clubs sell. So there's some flexibility on design but within the latest brand style guide or template. Adidas and Nike and most other brands work in the same way. I'm an ex employee and no I will not be revealing or leaking next seasons kit in case anyone asks.

Barcelona remain very traditional.

We call the shots ( or not). In-design, product sourced wherever. Why Puma? Why Adidas or Umbro? Why these demigods of sportwear? I bet Burnley College can design better.

I think it hinges more on production rather than design. As in, who can ship them out in bulk at a cheaper cost.

I just wish they'd get the colour of blue right. The last few years it's been a wishy washy pastel turquoise. When you put the shirt against the training tops, which are the right colour. They're nothing like.

I just wish they could have both the home and away kits stocked in the club shop by august. I know I know, I'm asking for far too much. A man can always dream though.

Hope they are different to the Chesterfield examples as we've had a blue stripe running down the sleeve for two
seasons now. Would like to see a solid blue sleeve again.

Edit: just looked back and the two previous away kits were released 1st August

Chesterfield kits are dire IMO. Really don't like the buttons on the neck and the sleeves look unfinished with a piece of loose material hanging down. Sincerely hope we get a different template to that one.

Now we are becoming a more globally recognised brand, isn't it time we started selling our merchandise in shops outside of Burnley too?

Hopefully proper blue sleeves this year.

I don't think the club shop sells enough variety to justify the shop in the town centre, never mind outside of Burnley.

One of the problems with Errea was delivery.

Those Chesterfield shirts look dreadful, particularly the white one which looks more like the vests my granddad used to wear.

Always surprises me that it seems every other club manage to get theirs on sale weeks before we do, clubs like Chesterfield, Barnsley and Rotherham seem to manage it each year. Does anyone know the reason for this, does it cost the club more to be supplied first?

Seems a shame that the club struggle to get supplies before folk go on their summer holidays, lots of potential sales opportunities lost for the club!

Some clubs reveal theirs before us but a lot more reveal theirs around the same time as us and some a lot later.

What I want to see is some good quality casual wear. A well fitting, clean cut, understated Polo shirt. Something that I can wear when I'm amongst the enemy or travelling semi-incognito. Ralph Lauren would be a decent template.

I remember a poster ( a grown man) once complaining about the late delivery of BFC socks as he wouldn't be able to wear them with his BFC shorts and top when shopping in Asda. He thought it would be embarrassing without the socks.

Far from it, some clubs are some time after us. Last season's away kit was delayed to fit in with the opening of the new shop but I think we tend to have the home shirt on sale in June.

The club shop is massively improved, with a good range of merchandise in there...I was in there on Saturday, it was very busy...the staff were very attentive and helpful.

I'd be inclined to say quality over quantity. Even if it was using Puma polo shirts. We don't need a massive range, just a well thought out and well designed one.

I still think we missed a massive opportunity with that 1914 FA Cup replica / tribute shirt. Now that was a thing of beauty.

The club is now selling the same terrace wear as what west ham sell, some smart items in the club shop now. There just overpriced in my opinion

I completely agree, but I do not feel our current fashion range is quality.

I am 24 years old and there is not a single item of clothing other than a replica shirt that appeals to me. I would love to wear our colours abroad in a more subtle way than a replica shirt.

Exactly that Mark (though I've 4 years on you!). The only things I buy are the replica shirts, the mini car kits and the Mitre balls with our crest on.

I wear my replica shirts to games and to the gym, I don't ever wear them as casual piece (i feel its making an unnecessary ''look at me'' sort of statement).

I notice that Sean Dyche now wears a Puma branded coat (prior to this having an unbranded one), I wonder if its a ''special'' just for him. I'd buy that!

As an XXXL person I have found the range of 'fashionwear' to be non existent in the shop this season.

I spoke to the manager there and was told that a supplier for oversize apparel has been contracted to produce a range of leisurewear to go on sale during the summer. I informed him that what supporters, of all sizes, want is decent material and an 'understated' design. Brash, in your face stuff is OK on a match day but out of place the rest of the time. He said that was a look they were aiming for but one persons stylish was another persons ignore.

Just keep use the 1962 strip and change the sponsor's bits accordingly.

It's been said on here already - by someone 'connected' - that it'll be claret with blue shorts and socks and the away kit'll be white.

In the mid 90s, I managed to purchase a white away shirt (Mitre) in JJB, Slough.

Although i wasn't overly keen on the shirt. I felt i had to buy it as it was on sale in my home town. If memory serves me right it was only £14 too.

For some reason I was once in JJB in Colchester (think we were on a school trip to Norfolk)

Anyway we walked in and hanging in amongst the red shirts of Liverpool/United/Arsenal and the blues of Chelsea was a glimmer of green.

We walked over and saw the jade/black shirt that we were so successful with.

Personally liked the 72/73 2nd Div Champions Kit and the White away version also - always preferred the white away kits

Like I said a thing of beauty! I don't mind that it has the Premier Range sponsor, it could also have had the puma logo on it too (in gold)! Swap the Royal Crest for the 90's club badge, again in gold, and it would have been a sure fire winner. All parties would have been satisfied surely?????

I can't be the only person outside the top level of Burnley FC, Royal Household, Puma and Premier Range to think of this...!!!

Always an exciting time, as we anticipate next seasons kit. I'm going for a combination of Claret and Blue, perhaps with some white thrown in. No inside information , just a hunch. Its almost as thrilling as the day the fixtures are released, when we find out the precise order in which we will play our 19 divisional rivals, once at home and once away, between August and May.
