Please can we not at sing this today (or ever again). It makes us look like knuckledraggers.
We can easily replace 'JW is dead with' 'You reap what you sow', Although you may still get some brain donors angrily shouting 'you sow!' afterwards.
In other news, is this you? If so you're a genius!

You are totally missing the point of the song that I for one sing with gusto and will coninue to do so.
Is it factual?....yes.Is it one massive full stop on the main rivals glory says ? Yes. Do you want the Venkys to be around for a long time ? Yes.
If your looking for knuckle dragging try bburns inbreeding songs.

Many people do.
All of the above can be achieved by singing you reap what you sow.

Whatever the reasons behind it, it's wrong and disgusting to hear

Who cares what it's supposed to mean. ''Jack Walker is deaaaaad'' isn't going to sound great on TV is it?
That's what we want our global audience to hear us singing.

I agree it sounds crass on its own. But is a.good response.to them singing there is.only one Jack Walker.
It's just a commonly used phrase that has been used for years when a king dies.

I do think that although it's in poor taste, especially if taken the way half our fans take it, it's much like "The King is dead, long live the king" in a definite 'you reap what you sow' sense.
Rovers fans rammed the success they had under Walker down our throats, so it's now a case of 'ha, your money has gone, but hopefully your current owners will be here for a long time'.
I'm sure our speed clappers could put that argument across more eloquently...

I also think that we are too quick to kowtow to Rovers fans who are very touchy about any mention of Jack Walker, or anything else at the moment for that matter.
I don't actually sing the song though, so I don't care whether they sing it or not.

No I don't as the point of one dynasty ending and another starting has been made in the song IMHO. The he's dead etc spoils it and turns what is a statement into an insult against an individual.
The song I cringe when I hear it is the Oh Burnarlee
is wonderful. It alienates fifty per cent of our fans and is just crass.

All I can think is that when someone like Kilby dies, a man who has meant a great deal to the club, and Rovers fans start singing **** songs about him, what will our reaction be?
It'd be quite interesting if the same people defending this will equally defend any songs of a similar vein coming back the other way, but I doubt that will be the case

The original phrase was translated from the French Le roi est mort, vive le roi!, which was first declared upon the accession to the French throne of Charles VII after the death of his father Charles VI in 1422. In France, the declaration was traditionally made by the duc d'Uzès, a senior peer of France, as soon as the coffin containing the remains of the previous king descended into the vault of Saint Denis
I think our speed clappers should be commended for their knowledge of history. As someone said factually correct.
Unlike there is.only one jack walker. As clearly this.is.not correct. Wasn't there another Jack Walker on Coronation Street and if they mean their Jack Walker shouldn't it now be was.

For it to have any meaning surely it should only be sung when we play them, so it should be a long long time before it gets another airing. Hopefully by that time Burnley fans will be saying 'Jack who, never heard of him'.
Why not just sing about our team and players rather than some dead guy who spunked his money on that shower of sh1t. far better to ignore the dross of Lancashire than sing about them IMO.

Funny and not offensive, the Jack Walker line is disgusting

No it isn't Vegas....as bfcg points out (post 11) it's just a declaration of change of dynasty as in "The King is dead , Long live the King". Anyway Jack Walker IS dead and, as a result, our friends up the road are, happily, screwed. If, when I died, it were a cause of celebration for Blackburn fans because of what I'd done for BFC I'd be pretty chuffed.

If it annoys the Bar Stewards then it's fine with me. I've sung it with gusto and pointed out to any Bar Stewards who objected that they may wish to recall 1992 and their song about Ben Lee.

If our board sold out to foreign investors during the close season and next year we dropped and the bstards through their rotting teeth with halitosis breath sang long live the Red bulls the Claret boards dead I wouldn't Mockrage over the internet not would I expect bstards fans to be horrified.

Yes. Young lad who tragically fell to his death. Something that your fans thought warranted celebrating in song.

Don't like it? Don't sing it.
Like it? Sing it.
The fact remains, jack walker IS dead.
I don't sing it as a general rule, but when they turn up and give it "jack walker" large, then they are having it, and I don't give a shining shite who it upsets.

Don't like this or who's that lying on the carpet either. I also don't like the Oh Burnalee one either but I normally just sing Clarets, Clarets and Clarets for that one. It only makes us look like the tits and fannies.
We should sing songs that support our team and players rather than worrying about the dross down the M65

Also while we're on the subject ..does it annoy anyone else that when there is a handball shout, we have shout handball every time the ball is kicked for the next five minutes
But in general I think our vocal support is excellent especially from the cricket field end

Easily the worst thing about the cricketfield stand
