Good afternoon, I'm fortunate enough to work in Uddersfield amongst some very excited Terriers today. Unsurprisingly the sole topic of conversation is Wembley. We've been discussing the travel options, and they are asking about driving. I know a few people on here have driven and parked somewhere off the M1 and jumped on the tube to Wembley. Is this the best driving option? and if so where do you park to get the tube? I've always travelled by train down there so any info that claret's have would be much appreciated in this corner of West Yorkshire...

Think its Cockfosters where people park up.

Stanmore is a very good bet.

Last time I went I stayed at the Premier Inn opposite Kenton station. We were going for a gig and hotel prices for around Wembley and closer into London were all at around £200, even the Premier Inns.

I don't know if people are just thick, but by getting the tube in the opposite direction from Wembley I got the room for £39.

Driving there was a doddle

Jublilee Line....Canons Park and Queensbury are worth a look as well.
Kingsbury is well built up and busy..avoid it, avoid Wembley Park and any stations south of Wembley like the plague.

There may be some Metropolitan Line options at the top end of it but I don't have a tube/ rail map in front of me..sorry.

We always park at Ickenham, handy to get in and out of London from there and BIG carpark for the car. Spoons within 5 minutes walk up the High Street too which is handy!

I've done the Premier Inn at Kenton in the past and it's a very good shout.

I'd say Stanmore on the M1 which will be the Huddersfield choice. For anyone using M6/M40 I'd go for Hillingdon. We used Stanmore a couple of weeks ago for Palace and it is only four stops on the Jubilee Line. You get a good view of Barnet's new ground too.

A slightly different option is to park at Gerrards Cross station and get the train into Wembley Stadium. There is fairly cheap parking at the station. The journey takes around 20 mins and there are a lot of trains. You are then parked on the right side of London to get home via a bit of M25 then M1. Have a great day!

Another M40 option is Amersham. You're guaranteed to get a seat on the Metropolitan Line direct to Wembley as it's the terminus. Did this for 1994 play-off final and we were back in Burnley by 9.45pm.

Stanmore is the obvious. Other options are Chalfont & Latimer which has a big car park and is about 20 minutes on the Metropolitan line or Watford and get the overground down.

I wouldn't recommend Cockfosters. It's decent for Arsenal and Spurs but quite a way to Wembley from there.

Stanmore gets very busy, but at least you won't have many Reading fans going that way unlike us and Sheff Utd. A Met line option is coming off at Junc 5 on M1 (Watford) and heading through to Northwood. Plenty of street parking and 1 x car park. Whilst not as close to the M1 as Stanmore or Cockfosters, I reckon it'll be a faster getaway.

There is a Premier Inn at Edgware - 20min walk to Canon's Park tube station on Jubilee line (3 stops to Wembley). It is also only 10-15min walk to Edgware tube station which is on the Northern line and very handy for Central London.

Park up at High Wycombe station, less than 2 miles from Jnct.3 of the M40...Wembley Stadium 26 minutes by train from High Wycombe..

Was just going to suggest the same . Ideal place to stay and park.Premier inn here too,we use it as a base for most of our London games.

Over the past few years I've opted for Canons Park, never had a problem finding a space to park and it's only a couple of quid for the weekend.

Just a warning re: Stanmore, when we parked there recently the car park was full in the afternoon but fortunately someone was just leaving. Our thoughts were that it was because of the boxing that evening at Wembley.

If you go for Stanmore and the car park is full, then re-trace your steps back towards the M1. At the roundabout turn left and go up the hill, 1st right goes into a housing estate that had no parking restrictions the last time i used it (a few years ago mind!). 10 min walk to the station.

Another shout here for High Wycombe, though I've also used Stanmore quite frequently for London and it's v handy for Wembley in particular.
