Heaton 4 not for the first time had tried to make a save look good, which cost us points. ( not saying he hasn't won us some )
Lowton 6
Long 5 if he even gets on the bench next season we have gone backwards
Tarkowski 6 showed AGAIN why he is no where near as good as Mee or Keane, too laid back and error prone
Ward 6
Arfield 4 another that if we are moving forward should be no where near the matchday squad. Good servant but get rid ( or reserve as back ups back up )
Hendricks 6
Westwood 7
Brady 5 wow, I hope a pre season makes him, other wise he is an expensuve Scott Arfield!
Vokes 7 scored.. . And that's it, probably worthy of MOM , it was that bad.
Gray 6 tried

Defour 6 ta raar
Guddy 6 hope you stay injury free
Barnes 5 sadly not premier league quality

Dyche - 3 beaten by a very poor side today, just a good job we didn't need a result, or it was Chelsea. As I've said all season he has been reactive not proactive, and it may be our downfall.
Thanks for this year but the last 3 games have spelt trouble and no clue on how to out think the opposition to get a result. 2nd season syndrome ( if that is real ) looms!

Anti climax to a wonderful season. 2 great chances in the first half not taken. Should really have been 3 1 at half time. Second half was probably the worst half of football all season. They were nothing to beat and we threw away a few million today. Just need to forget that one and think about all the great games this season I guess.

Heaton 3 - flapping all over the place, inconsistent at PL level. One week heroics at Old Trafford, the next hes as fault for a goal.

Lowton 4 - rubbish, crossing non existent.

Long 5 - meh

Tark 6 - flashes of his ability.

Ward 7 - standard Ward, although quiet on the attacking front.

Arfield 3 - you wont see many worse PL players.

Hendrick 5 - restricted by the system. Should be doing so much more, Dyche just cant get the best out of him.

Westwood 6 - thought he did well, I like him.

Brady 5 - Dyche just isn't getting the best out of him, restricted by the system.

Vokes 7 - Done really well lately.

Gray 5 - restricted by the system, Dyche just isn't getting the best of out the creative players which in turn starves Gray so we don't see the very best Andre Gray.

Dyche 1 - rubbish again, instead of standing there like a lemon why doesn't he do something productive. Uninspiring to say the least. If he winged at the officials less he might be quicker with his changes.

Defour 9 - MOM, oozes class, 50 caps for Belgium for a reason. He even tried to two foot Dyche when the ball went out.

Not the game I just watched - 5 at best. Lost all our shape when he came on. Just not right for a physical 4-4-2

All 6 except Westwood and Vokes who I'd give 7, and Tarks/Long who I'd give 5.

That was one mind numbing performance and unlike SD it will remain in my memory for quite a while for all the wrong reasons. We were flat, showed our frailties and quite frankly were totally outclassed (especially in the second half) by a patched up WH who have struggled all season. That said 'mission accomplished' so many congrats.
Heaton 6-At times left very exposed all too easily by our Central Defence but he's is our most influential and valuable player.
Lowton 6-OK going forward but for me poor at times defensively. I'll need to see the WH winner again.
Long 4- He's had a bit of a run but done nothing to convince me he's the answer once Keano departs.
Tarkowski 5-I'll reserve judgement until he links up with Mee, as I would guess the'll be the starting C/Backs come the next campaign.
Ward 6-The lads had a good season but wasn't given much support today when he ventured forward.
Arfield 3-The best I can say for Scottie is I was relived when he came back in for Brady but he frustrates.
Hendrick 4-Too often caught in possession and missed a few crucial tackles.
Westwood 7-Thought he did well especially in the first half.
Brady 3-They'll need to be a vast improvement next season as I've not seen anything yet to convince me. Sorry.
Vokes 8*- Easily our best player, if only his partner was on the same wavelength.
Gray 4-Missed a golden chance early on and that set the tone. His first half miss was Bread and Butter to a good PL striker.

Gudmundsson 5-Not on long enough to have any real influence.
Defour-Again as Gudmundsson. That said, he did look classy and something our midfield was crying out for half an hour before he was introduced. I hope he's with us next season but I'll be very surprised if he is.

Can't believe all this adulation towards Defour. The fella did not look interested and hasn't all season. For all his obvious talent he as lacked, commitment, desire and passion at his time with us.

Our football oracle KRBFC gives him a 9, what a clueless gimp he is

First half was alright, second half was frankly very poor. I don't want to take anything away from what is a magnificent achivement, but the sorry tale is two wins in the last fifteen. Its not ideal, and we need some serious squad twiddling in the summer, as we can't expect the similar home form next season.

Heaton 6 - sure he could have done better with that 2nd
Lowton 6 -
Tarkowski 6 -
Long 6 -
Ward 7 - had a great season to be fair
Brady 6 - trying too hard I think
Hendrick 5 - probably his mind is on the beach, and he played like it. Another one who has been brilliant though.
Westwood 7* - kept things ticking over
Arfield 6 -
Gray 5 - missed an two sitters
Vokes 7 - good goal, should have had another one

Subs
Gudmundsson 4 - really rusty
barnes 5
Defour 6 - I hope he stays to be honest

If we lose Keane, Arfield, Mee, Heaton, Boyd and Gray we are really going to struggle. I hope that we only lose Keane.

Great season though, but its a shame it fizzled out a bit.

Thought were we fine in first half but v disappointed with the second. Felt to me that Brady was our most likely outlet today, some good touches and at least he tries to get us on the front foot, I was amazed that he got hooked ahead of Arfield. SD does need to find a way to integrate our better players if we are to improve on 16th place next year. The loss of Keane's pace is a concern. Tarks will be a fine defender, but he's not quick, and we looked vulnerable to their speedy counter attacks today.

Heaton - 7 - Really unlucky with the second after making a great save, otherwise not that much to do.

Lowton - 6 - Not bad and threatened to be a real outlet down the right, but his end product wasn't of the standard he's reached so often in recent months.

Ward - 6 - Steady and reliable.

Long - 5 - A bit shaky and unconvincing throughout.

Tarkowski - 5 - Relative lack of pace exposed a couple of times, and he does have a bad habit of switching off at key times which was part of the problem for the opening goal.

Westwood - 6 - Really good in the opening half hour, but then lucky not to see at least a second yellow for a really poor challenge on Collins - after which he'd clearly been told his next foul would be a sending off, and as a result faded out of the game except for the relatively rare periods in which we got a prolonged period of possession. Real shame because he was dictating the game.

Hendrick - 6 - A bit in and out of the game, but when he was in it, his class was evident. Once Westwood was on a tight rope he didn't really seem to know whether we should press up or sit back, and as a result seemed to get caught betwixt and between.

Arfield - 5 - His link up play between the lines saw him get into dangerous areas, but too often it broke down at that point because our play was too tight and he got crowded out.

Brady - 5 - Started OK and delivered a couple of neat balls in, particularly one from which Vokes might have scored, but faded sharply and it wasn't a huge surprise that he was hooked.

Gray - 7 - Should have done better with his early lob, but after that our brightest spark and a bit unlucky more than once that the ball didn't break better for him. Terrific cross for Vokes.

Vokes - 6 - Slotted his goal neatly, and showed glimpses in his build up play, but not able to dominate the West Ham defenders to any extent.

Gudmundsson - 5 - Marginally less effective than Brady or Arfield.

Defour - 4 - Clipped one nice pass into Lowton, and that was it. Played teammates into trouble at least twice, and beaten defensively more than once. Certainly did nothing to suggest that the morons who gave him the biggest cheer of the day when he came on have a case.

Barnes - 5 - Apart from ballsing up one great opportunity to play Arfield in, not in the game at all and in truth the sub was a weird one because we were having far more joy going round West Ham than we were getting involved in a physical battle with their centre backs down the centre.

Well, a slightly disappointing end to the season. Perhaps, with hindsight, this was always likely to be the story once we got all but safe: the lads have spent all season playing at absolutely top intensity to achieve one single aim - and having achieved that aim, it is human nature for that intensity to drop a bit. Burnley without that intensity are probably the weakest team in the league, and that showed a little bit at times today against a superior technical team in West Ham.

That said, I thought it was an entertainingly bright and breezy game for an hour, with chances at both ends and some decent football, albeit the story was West Ham gradually getting on top after an even first half hour, particularly once Westwood found himself on a tight rope and West Ham and Lanzini in particular gained control of midfield. Perhaps the ratings on this thread reflect that - for my money, they reflect expectations at home which have built through the season. We all need to take stock of what we've achieved as a club and look at performances like today in that lense.

The challenge this summer is to make sure that this time next season, we're safe just as early as we were this season, but can then go on and pick up a few more points and play with a bit more swagger once the pressure is off and the intensity wanes. That's probably the benchmark of imporovement. But that won't be easy: this season really has been a fine achievement.

Heaton 6 (some awful kicking)
Lowton 5 ( I'm sorry as I really like him, but he had several good crossing opportunities and he just can't deliver)
Long 7
Takowski 6 (our back up CB's aren't in the same league as our first choice pairing imo - a worry!)
ward 6
Westwood 7
Brady 6
Arfield 6
Hendrick 6
Vokes 7 (MOM)
Gray 6 (missed 2 nailed on chances in the first half. Criminal at this level!)

JBG 6
Defour 5 (the delivery of that last chance free kick in added time was a disgrace!)
Barnes 5

Overall a draw would have been fair, but early on we dominated and should have scored more than the one we did. Missed chances bit us in the bum big style in the end as second half we faded to virtually nothing as a threat. Very much a typical home game in many ways this season (first half especially) where the more cultured opposition knock it about very nicely and we chase shadows for long periods, but then when we DO have the ball we suddenly look very dangerous and cut them open. But today we didn't put the ball away, we became tense and the chances dried up.
We have real aspirations to be in that mid table mele/mini league which involves the likes of WBA, Stoke, Leicester, Watford, Place, B/mouth,Swansea, Southampton and West Ham, but on today's showing we have a long, long way to go to be an accepted member of that gang. A rather sad end to a great season unfortunately as we've kind of limped home. I'm left concenrned about next season or about how much money we might end up shelling out just to TRY and compete.

I hope this was an on the beach performance or it bodes ill for next season unless there is a clear out.

We started great then went downhill steadily.

We were without our two best central defenders and three best central midfielders (in which I include Defour though he is obviously unmotivated and right to bench). It showed. The midfield was pedestrian and was overrun by West Ham, number 10 in particular.

The worry is that of those five, four are highly unlikely to play for us again. So replacements are crucial. We particularly miss Marneys driving force forwards, and our record without him continues to be atrocious over several seasons. I hoped Hendrick was Marney mark two but maybe not.

Well done to all over the season though.

Agree that he didn't pull up any trees Spice, but no reason to put the boot in like that at all. What do you expect after having no playing time for so long, and having to come in for abt. 12 minutes in a team that already had lost its shape and - let's be honest - was chasing shadows all second half?

Playing teammates in trouble at least twice? You mean daring to pass a ball to them over a short distance (which they could be expected to deal with) instead of hoofing it away?

So now we know how good Keane and Mee are. The last 2 games without them have been awful. If Keane is going we will find him very hard if not impossible to replace. Along with many others Heatons form has dropped during the last third of the season. His distribution is awful and not sure what he adds as Captain.

Heaton 4
Lowton 5
Long 4 Not remotely PL standard
Tarks 4. Looked ok with Mee playing but awful today
Ward 6 At least he gave 100%
Brady 4 Thirteen million ? Are you serious
Hendrick 6
Westwood 6 Should have seen red
Arfield 3 Clearly did not want to be there
Vokes 7 MOM
Gray 4 Missed at least 3 great chances. How many does he need ?

Defour 3 Just send him back to wherever he wants to go.

All in all a shocking ( and expensive ) end to an amazing season. Think we will lose Keane, Gray, Defour Boyd and Arfield. Summer signings are going to decide if we pass the second season test.

Not a pretty end to the season. Brady looked the only person likely to make something happen solely due to the fact he was pretty much the only one who wanted the ball. As soon as her went off we went from having little attacking intent to absolutely zero attacking intent.

Tarky and Long are not the answer. 3 games, 6 conceded says it all. Especiallly when you consider it's versus 3 teams with naff all to play for. The first West Ham goal was the first decent goal they've conceded as well. The other 5 were very much avoidable.

All in all it was a downbeat end to a successful season.

Playing the ball to Kevin Long - not known for his fast feet - when he's facing his own goal and has a man at his back isnt brave daring to avoid hoofing it, its stupid. He did that twice. He also got brushed off down in front of the longside in a really poor fashion. Fair point that hes not had much football, i accept that, but you can only mark what you see. Unfortunately, if thats Defour's last cameo for burnley (and as you know i hope it isn't) it was rank bad. Even by the standards of our second half.

seems fairly pointless marking a dead rubber like this and there's equally little point reading too much into the qualities of our players from that performance.

we knocked the ball about fairly well but were too casual once we got the opener, as though it was job done. in fairness, it was done 3 weeks ago and whilst it would have been nice to end on a high, there's nothing worse than just playing out the season, its just going through the motions.

there's no major surgery needed, just a few quality additions down the spine of the team and some pace and creativity would be nice.

by no means a great season but a great achievement. its a slow build and as long as we keep progressing, we'll be happy.

I agree with Spice. He was awful and even though westwood was on a tightrope he was far better. I know you pretty much scouted him for the club belgianclaret but today he was poor. I was suggesting he should have been on at half time with Ashley looking like he might pick up the red any time but I think if that had happened we would have been totally overrun.

I thought we had a gem in Defour but for whatever reason it's not worked out in the 2nd half of the season. His cameo today suggested either he's had enough of Dyche, he isn't fully fit or he's simply not got the engine for this league in a central 2. I hope it's the middle one but I suspect the latter.

He wasn't really on long enough to rate today but a 4 wasn't harsh
