I hoped that Green would have made some progress with Burnley.
Wish him luck for his future!

Re: ARTICLE: Barton and Kightly released by Clarets
Wasn't going to happen. He went to Kilmarnock on loan but that was cut short and when he went to Salford rather than a club higher up it was looking likely that he wasn't going to make it at Burnley. To be honest, I think I only saw him play once and he had a good game. Olomowewe is no surprise at all to be honest.claretblue wrote:I hoped that Green would have made some progress with Burnley.

Anyone know how Hennings has got on at FD ?
Re: ARTICLE: Barton and Kightly released by Clarets
Hennings will move back to Germany this summer, we just need to cut our losses with him I'm afraid.

He can't not be retained, he's under contract. Dusseldorf wanted to keep him but they can't afford to buy him. Not much money in Bundesliga 2.Funkydrummer wrote:Rouwen Hennings ! forgot about him.

Re: ARTICLE: Barton and Kightly released by Clarets
no surprises and Hennings will be like a new signing for us just like Marney so that's two new players in already! Happy days

Careful ! There's a number of, shall we say, the "hard of learning group" on here's who will, without question, think you are being serious.KateR wrote:no surprises and Hennings will be like a new signing for us just like Marney so that's two new players in already! Happy days

I don't think he did particularly well at Dusseldorf, 9 goals 3 assists in the second tier so he probably isn't good enough to do well. But then again you can add that to the list of our players who many thought weren't good enough last season. Who knows, at least he is a different kind of player to our other forwards.

And yet I think he was the leading scorer in Bundesliga 2 in 2014/15superdimitri wrote:I don't think he did particularly well at Dusseldorf, 9 goals 3 assists in the second tier so he probably isn't good enough to do well. Flanagan & Joey gone that's already 2 squad players we have to replace to say nothing of selling players.
All this talk of selling X,Y &Z gets me nervous, we have to retain a strong core.

A huge thank you to Joseph Barton for his positive impact on our club. I truly wish him well at whatever he does in future.
A big thank you to Michael Lightly, who has been a Claret for some time and also made his Mark. Good luck.

Joey was on BT Sport on Sunday watching the games along with the likes of Chris Sutton (with whom he had a moderately heated argument about red cards) and Robbie Savage.
He came across reasonably well so perhaps that's where his future lies.

Re: ARTICLE: Barton and Kightly released by Clarets
damp squib of an exit really for Joey Barton, shame as well because he clearly courted controversy in his career, but his time at Burnley was all positive as far as I could see.
His passion spilled over and looked as if it was inspiring his team mates. He genuinely appeared to like being here too.
I would hope that if his playing days are over, then he might be able to find a role (preferably with us ) whereby his enthusiasm can be harnessed and passed on to the squad. Even though he has had lengthier connections at other clubs, he was happy here.
Yes he had the odd off game, but he was a force for good in the main. hope he makes a return one day.

Both players have been excellent for Burnley. A big thank you to both who have been more than instrumental in our outstanding achievements over the last few years. Just hope that whoever replaces them will be at least equal.
