Yes, he was the incumbent MP before dissolution. He beat Farage 2 years ago.

Now that they have been charged, it isn't legal to comment on the specifics of the case itself. However, in the cases of the MPs who have been investigated but not charged (about a dozen of them), the issue was whether a centrally-paid "battle bus" counted as national expenses or local expenses, and the CPS decided it was too fine a point to charge them with. With these three, it's impossible to discuss it (sub judice) so it will make for a strange election campaign. "What do you have to say about the charges, Mr. Candidate"? "Nothing. I'm not allowed to." (They are allowed to say they feel themselves to be completely innocent and will defend themselves vigorously.)

Also to add to my point here, it's right he's been charged, just wonder now how many more come out of the woodwork.

And in case anyone is under the illusion that the Tories cooperated fully with the investigation...

Mays team are now saying that she will not be doing any further interviews on radio etc up to the election. Is this a coincidence or just part of her strange stategy.

If this election is the most important in May's lifetime, why does she refuse to debate, and meet real people to get her message across?

They've realised that she's hugely damaging to the party whenever she is questioned.

Which bodes we'll for us all over the next 4-5 years should she win as expected.

She's on BBC1 in 35 mins, which somewhat undermines the point I think you're trying to make.

She couldn't pull out. I'm certain she wants to after this news today but it'd kill her campaign and hand Labour the election if she once again refused to turn up for something resembling a debate, especially after actually agreeing to it in the first place. Even the most resolute Tory voter would be questioning whether they should give them their vote with this woman in charge.

Caballo, her taking part in the TV debate tonight does not undermine the point I was making, she could hardly reneged on a commitment she had agreed to before today's revelations. It has been announced on BBC news that she will not be taking part in any further radio shows. This, of course, may just be the strategy that her advisers and herself have agreed but it is not in my opinion showing strength and stability.

I think the suggestion is that she'll be thrown out by her party as leader even if she wins small against someone who is literally the founder of ISIS, or soemthing.

If she wins and they toss her out I'd expect another election.

One reason for this election was so we'd have an elected leader taking us into Brexit etc.

Toss out an elected leader and we're back to square one.

If the Tories get a majority the chances of her not being PM this time next week are surely close to zero. Odd things can happen in politics but that just feels like pure fantasy.

I don't think it'd happen either. It could easily be spun as disrespecting the will of the voters while trying to tell us that they're respecting the will of the voters with Brexit.

She's absolutely clueless now and an insult to the electorate - the other candidates do actually have beliefs - but will, no doubt, get in.
Her weakness under even the slightest pressure will not have gone unnoticed by the Tory High Command, she'll be gone at her next defeat in the Brexit negotiations ie within months.

g
I think she might hang on for a while, but tbh if she gets in but with less seats,(or at least with a smaller majority), then I think her position will be untenable. After all, she said she was calling the election because she wanted a personal mandate.
Anything less than a 70 seat majority will be a shocker for her, especially when you think of the poor quality of opposition, and the lead in the polls that she had before embarking on such a disastrous campaign. ( I hasten to say- so far).
I still expect a decent Tory majority, but unless things change a lot, I think it may well be significantly less than the 100 / 150 seat majority that I anticipated, (and I think she expected) when she called it.

The majority is 12 at the moment. It can't reduce by much and still be a majority.

I think she's trying to keep the majority just low enough that Corbyn doesn't feel he ought to resign. (Though possibly anything less than 200 would be low enough for that!)

Yes you did and we shall see later.

If she wins and is deposed then we're back to square one and no one wants another election soon.
