Republic of Ireland are playing Uruguay this afternoon and for the first time ever there are four Burnley players in an international starting eleven with Stephen Ward, Kevin Long, Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady all playing.

I remember when we had Duff, Jones, Lafferty and Paterson in the Northern Ireland squad although I think only 3 of the 4 were Clarets at the same time. These lads now representing the Republic of Ireland seem like a level above, especially given the fees involved. Regardless, to have all of them playing in the same game is truly remarkable.
Onwards and upwards!

Perhaps we should change our name to O'Burnley.
We already have the song-
O'Burnerley is wonderful. O'Burnerley is wonderful.
It's full of .....

Yet another indicator of the Club's progress under Dyche. Particularly pleasing for Stephen Ward and Kevin Long. Ward has enjoyed an outstanding season, consistently showing his skills in defence and forward play to such an extent that he has become the teams most reliable performer. Long has returned from a career threatening injury to become an international player in such a short period, rewarding all the work from the backroom and coaching staff.

Long certainly looks "leaner and meaner" than I've seen him before. BBC are reporting that none other than Edison Cavani lasted only 11 minutes after a challenge by him
Long may it last, if you'll pardon the pun.

Edison Cavani always reminds me of a South American drug barons hitman from Crocodile Dundee!
