Scotland v England

In all the commotion I'd forgotten about this little match.
I've just been looking at our options in midfield and it looks well tame to me.
Luckily they've only got Griffiths, Martin and Naismith to choose from up front.
It should be an away win, shouldn't it?

It should, but you never know.
I will go for an away win. On paper at least, that should be the result.

Apparently Griffiths has been playing really badly lately, missing lots of open goals so he's been sidelined. Medication ?
Scotland will lose as they score less goals than England but will claim the 3 points because they played better.

I could pick a team out of the Prinny Royal beer garden to beat the sweaties.
Should be a walkover.
On paper.....

On paper - Should be a walk over, with fast flowing, attacking football
Reality - Win by the odd goal, with the usual slow, mondane build up play making Scotland look defensive warriors
( I'd take reality if offered )

Thing is, whenever we play any of the home nations, such is there distaste of us, 50/50 balls suddenly become 60/40 in the oppositions favour.

I was born in Stirling and support Scotland but since the 1980's I have expected nothing and not been disappointed.
My Mum is Burnley born and I was brought up in England and schooled in Burnley so don't have that ridiculous hate thing in my DNA.
I always want England to do well when it's not a head to head. Scotland don't have a single player of World standing anymore and I would rate Robertson as being the only one today who would make the England squad.
England have an abundance of talent but lack the
coaching to make them effective outside of playing the minions of Europe, of which I include Scotland.
They will walk through the group again and then flop in Russia when the quality of the opposition changes.

I'm the same, John Mac.
Always want the 'Home Nations' to do well.
Personally find the hated weird.
Bit of good natured banter and piste takes my limits.

I was in Glasgow this morning and now watching in Bristol at my lady friend's abode! Was in Wetherspoons at 11.15 and it was rammed. Big one in George Sq. The counting house. I have my Pure Dead Brilliant T-shirt on cheering on Scotland. Bit one way at present.

Didn't think you were Scottish Ian? Ah well, ya live and learn.
Not into the whole home nation hatred thing myself. Been to Scotland quite a lot and never experienced it either. Friendly city I found. The welsh can be a bit naughty with us but not experienced it in Glasgow or Belfast.
