I can see this being a bit of a farce. Mayweather will give him a hiding.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
My first thought when I saw this earlier was 'oh dear'. Conor was shown up against Diaz in his own sport when they first fought after getting overconfident... Mayweather might just finish him off.
Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
We'll find out just how good Mayweather really is, as he carries McGregor late into the fight in attempt to stimulate interest in a rematch.

I don't know how anyone can get excited over one of the best defensive boxers of all time fighting a complete amateur.

It's just simply a money making scheme that a lot of idiots will pay to watch.
Connor McGregor has a big following and Vegas will want to host them like they did for Ricky Hattons thousands.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
I have lost interest in these pay per view over hyped fights....I watched all the great heavy weights and middle weights in the 70s and 80s....ali...foreman...frasier...holmes in heavy weight division.....then the likes of sugar ray leonard...hearns...haggler in the middle weight division....more recently...barrera...chavez further down the weights....none of these were pay per view but all of them extraordinary boxers....sky just ramp up nothing fights for weeks in advance and my sky subscription is paying for the adds.....they should have a stand alone sky channel instead of annoying us with their hype.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
I can't get excited about a fight involving someone who has been beat 3 times in his own sport. Had he been undefeated in something like 40-50 fights, then it may have been a bit more interesting.
Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
Yeah because that'd make it less one sided.FactualFrank wrote:I can't get excited about a fight involving someone who has been beat 3 times in his own sport. Had he been undefeated in something like 40-50 fights, then it may have been a bit more interesting.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
Anyone who buys this on PPV is an absolute mug. McGregor won't be able to get anywhere near Mayweather, won't even get to see a knockout either Floyd will just completely outbox him for 12 rounds and then go on about how he's the greatest of all time. How about fighting Amir Khan or the lad Spence, someone who may just give you something to think about?

Mayweather will carry him. McGregors boxing is **** poor. Plenty of videos out there.

If may weather gets on top, t'other guy might be temped to start kicking..

Not when there's a clause meaning he forfeits his entire purse if this were to happen.Saxoman wrote:If may weather gets on top, t'other guy might be temped to start kicking..

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
One of the most one sided boxing matches ever. Good luck to McGregor though, if he comes out of it unhurt then he'll be able to retire a very wealthy man.

I see your point Saxo. However some things look far better after 20 years. Just one example could be the Premier League table.Saxoman wrote:Maybe 20 years ago..

Maybe if Mayweather does win, as expected, they should have a rematch, but in the cage.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
Even though Mayweather isn't a big puncher, and hasn't knocked anybody out for years I genuinely think he could take McGregor out of there in the first round should he wish. McGregor won't be able to see the punches coming, won't be able to hit Mayweather with any of his own and through sheer accumulation of shots I can see the referee being forced to step in and stop it. The question is will Mayweather toy with McGregor and string it out for long enough to give the fans more than 3 minutes of action? I'm a huge boxing fan but I'm not excited about this at all, and probably won't even stay up to watch it unless there's a sensational undercard that will offer some evenly matched fights. For a real competitive contest check out Ward-Kovalev II this weekend!

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
I can't see that happening, Mayweather is 40 and rich enough that he's not going to bother learning a whole new discipline. Added to that he's never claimed to be any good in the cage, McGregor called out Mayweather for a boxing match and he's got what he wanted (which I assume is just a massive pay day rather than any actual belief he can really win).FactualFrank wrote:Maybe if Mayweather does win, as expected, they should have a rematch, but in the cage.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
Rumoured to be £90 PPV if you've got the full sky package or £130 without full sky package

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
£90!! This could be the least watched ppv event ever. I hope!

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
that irresponsible and horrific theatrical and scripted slanging match was a disgrace, this is a billion light years from the noble art of boxing.
Stage managed shite designed to lure the punters and satisfy the bookies. These aren't men, its a distasteful affair from start to finish. If I'm mistaken, then I can only say I hope the manic big mouthed irish tosser gets destroyed in seconds.

I've seen nothing of the sort. UK PPV broadcaster hasn't even been agreed yet.
Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
In the US the prices are $89.95 for standard definition and $99.95 for HD. Confirmed.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
Apparently showtime hasn't decided whether to go with sky UK or ITV box office yet. Projected price at this point is around £60.

If those prices are about right I think whoever broadcasts it in the UK may be disappointed.

It's nonsense, Sky will charge around the 20 quid mark for customers in the UK - same as the manny vs mayweather fight. Which was also around the $100 in the U.S.

Re: Mayweather v mcgregor confirmed!
As a few have said before me, pathetic scripted nonsense aimed at who? The American market? It's as bad as the old WWF garbage at such a childish level.
I hate what boxing is becoming if this is the future.
I hope it is an enormous flop.

I doubt it'll be worth 20 sheets. 3rd/4th round knockout.
