Anyone been? Whats the verdict?

Done a few courses but often prefer the smaller meetings. Went to The Grand National last year and didnt enjoy it at all. But been to York, Ripon, Thirsk etc and always had a brilliant time of it.

Thanks in advance

Excellent racecourse. Facilities good, viewing good. Pretty paddock (fingers crossed for fine day), and Sprint Cup is a Group 1 which brings top horses and jockeys. Really good day out and closer than Chepstow!

Haydock isn't bad but if you are heading in that direction Chester is a better day out, and also a nice drink in the centre.

The Haydock Sprint Cup will attract good horses as lots of prize money always does.

Haydock is my most local course and I grew up going there to virtually every meeting years ago but gave up with the Friday / Saturday races as they are just packed full of stag / hen do's and people that don't want to watch the racing and you can barely move in the stands or get in and out of the car parks.

I have watched racing at every track in the UK and one or two abroad.

Favourites:

Longchamp
Ripon
Beverley
Ayr
Epsom
Newmarket
Cartmel
Hexham
Ludlow

Least liked:

Wetherby - 2 of my horses died there
Aintree - They let far too many people in on National day
Leicester - Been there a million times and never had a winner

None of that probably helps.

Saturdays are full of stag do's as previously said...was a member there for years...it only used to take 40 minutes....takes longer now with traffic....very fair track.....watch out for trainer Dascombe with Kingscote riding...very good at the track....I always used to see John Parrot there....also out of season you often get footballers there...

Enjoy Chester and always good quality racing and a good day out.

Transport in and out can be a bit of a nightmare but the racing is excellent.

Not bothered about value, if they are low odds and likely to win that will do!

Thats what I meant - Brando is 3/1 and outside the fav is my pick. The horses fancied for sprint cup with short odds are usually the ones that win with nothing "surprising" happening.

Don't think anything over 4/1 has won sprint cup for yearssss.

Forecast to be wet so could be a problem - Don't think it'll affect Brando of it is. I mentioned the "value" outside the fav earlier with Brando.

You need to spend some brass at Aintree on a decent stand on Grand National day if you want to avoid the masses
