Can't see a thread on this year's telly coverage yet.

I usually spend this weekend ranting at the terrible bands the BBC are showing but turned on tonight to see a choice of First Aid Kit, Ride or Elbow on the red button.

Now I'm ranting about having to make a choice!

Radiohead at 10.00 will no doubt be incredible.

I saw Blossoms last year and thought they were pretty good but they're records are really over-produced and radio friendly fodder for the masses.

I saw Blossoms last year and seen them a few times since and theyve been decent gigs but they are sounding and looking like mediocre rubbish at Glasto. Really like the Blown Rose single but it had absolutely no energy to it at all

I'm sure it's all really, really cool to be into a band (or pretend to be into a band) that no one has ever heard of, but I heard elbows "magnificent" earlier and it was....err... magnificent. (Not suggesting that's either of you two btw, but sometimes the music threads on here are just a little.... I don't know.... shite.

Nothing wrong with mainstream, if there is real talent behind it.

I'm way too old to be trying to be cool. I like what I like - some of it's mainstream, some not.

The only thing I can add is that Moonlandingz are brilliant - I hope they get on tv. Not sure when their slot is.

Blossoms seemed okay. Hardly groundbreaking. Now giving Declan McKenna's technicolour dreamcoat a whirl.

Saw them earlier in the year in Sheffield (assuming from your username you're in Leeds that you might have been there). Best gig I've been to for a long, long time.

The problem I have with watching Glastonbury these days is that I used to be able to look up to all the guys on stage and hero worship them but now I look and see children. Talented, still, but it's a different perspective.

I guess it's a bit like how I felt when Michael Duff retired and I realised that every Burnley player I ever saw from that point on would be younger than me.

The problem these days is that bands get signed to major labels quickly, get over-hyped and popular without properly learning their art.

They then get out on big stages at major festivals and can't hack it.

Then usually disappear after two albums, if they're lucky enough to get that many.

Dont disagree. Their album is alright but part of it is they are on the same management team as the Courteeners, the Charlatans and a few other bands so got pushed to death as a support act.

Same is happening now to Cabbage who are everywhere and seem rubbish to me.

No chance the Blossoms have a second album in them but fair play to them they are having their day in the sun

Additionally, social media now ruins a lot of mystique with saturated content. I used to go to gigs and festivals in the 90s and it was a real buzz to see bands. Now, I still have a good time but it's like I've already seen them live to an extent.

I love Radiohead but I'm really struggling to get into this set.

Maybe because it's on the box but there doesn't seem to be much of an atmosphere or connection with the crowd.

Just seems to be lacking something.

Went to the original festivals, first two years, Bath Festival, as it was known then. Saw all my all-time favourites then, had a great time.
haven't been since and not been remotely tempted.

I know festivals are much more than just the headliners but who is there new to have a go at? The young bands all act and want to be whats been before and the old acts take turns each year.

Yeah, it's so cool to not rate the headliners.

Radiohead have an amazing back catalogue, and were fantastic again tonight.

If you don't get them, no problem, but if you do, I'm not having that they were terrible, not in a million years. Incredibly talented, with 25 years of outstanding music behind them.

Radiohead - 2 decent albums. ( 2nd and 3rd) They've been dining out on past glories ever since.

Back in the day they were a antidote to the swagger of oasis.

Now they simply sound very dated. A self indulgent whine fest.
