Like a repeat of last year when his name was being hawked about by his agent.

I know where Defour is right now - he's in the middle of a training session in Ireland

I would love to see Defour crack on at Burnley and force his way into the starting eleven, does he have the desire to do is the question?

Besiktas would be a great move for him. I crap move for us but good for him.

If the club can get anywhere near money back spent on him that would be an incredible piece of business.

I hope he stays with us instead of retiring to Turkey.

Desire is the issue but dropping money on Rouven we need all our money back on Defour with no cut price deal
We will never fully know who has issues with who as regards his relationship with Sean.Defour is a talented player but his games for us have been seriously limited for whatever reason.
So maybe it's time to walk away and write him off as yet another foreign player who failed to live up to his promise

He can't leave. What'll happen to his personal ward at Burnley General?

I would love the chance to see Defour with a decent pre-season behind him with us next season. However if he is going, hope they get him gone quickly

there was a tweet knocking around earlier claiming to quote the Olympiakos manager who said something along the lines of "Burnley want 7million and we can't pay that"

Not saying it's legit, just saying it's out there !

Well since that was roughly 50 minutes ago if training is anything like match day he will be as we speak trudging off the pitch ready to take his place on the bench after feeling a tight pull in his toe nail....no point risking it.

I'd love him to stay. He is the only flair player we have. Exciting to watch when played centrally.

The downside for Defour being he'd have to live in Turkey.

Iv no idea why he gets such a hard time by some fans. Is it because Dyche doesn't like him they must also not like him? Easily the best player we have, he's just not a workhorse. It's like taking a Bentley greenlaning.

In terms of raw ability he is easily our best midfielder, would love if he blended with the squad and got a good pre-season in him.

I'm not picking on Ashley Westwood here but I'm gong to use him for arguments sake: If he (Westwood) was Belgian would he have won over 50 caps for the national team?

Steven Defour has GOT to start for Burnley if he is fit, absolutely no question.

100% agree with this. We should be able to make space in our teams for players like this or our style of play will never improve.

At the end of the day every team needs that one player who can create something out of nothing. Our team is functional and play in a very functional way, fine it's served us well but we can't do anything else and at times in games we have rode out luck and got away with it because we cannnot keep a hold of the ball or hurt teams. Players like Defour bring that, they just need player around them on the same wavelength.

I don't think you can use that as an argument as the vast majority of those caps were won pre injury.

Let's hope a proper pre season sees him more involved this time. Can't believe any Burnley fan wouldn't want a fully fit Defour in the team.

If he is willing to knuckle down and finally fight for a place in the team then keep him. If however he is going to whinge and get his agent to try and flog him to every club going, all the while crying about Dyche etc then **** him.
I agree he is a talented player, but from the outside looking in, he appears to have the talent but without a basic will to work hard and apply himself to actually CONSISTENTLY perform in what is the best and most watched league in world football. Again I say **** him as we are better off without him.

Then definitely he must be in the side! But Defour has admitted himself he's not the player he was pre injury.

We don't know what goes on in training and in the dressing room.He doesn't always seem to be one of the lads and maybe it's his attitude that is wrong and why he is on the bench.

better off without him?

I beg to differ,

10% win rate without him on the pitch, 40% win rate with him on the pitch. We didn't do so well without him last season.

Just blind loyalty do Dycheball.

Maybe it is a Belgium thing, Chadli decided West Brom's pre season training camp wasn't for him as it involved working hard.

Maybe you're right: technical players were brought up to keep possession and move the ball around. It saves a lot of energy and wears the opposition down.

Nowadays, it seems in fashion not to have the ball, to organize the team and to run around until the opposition makes a mistake. This whilst not too long ago all teams were trying to play tiki-taka. Just like fashion, things will change again in the near future.

I still believe good teams contain a spine of technical players, who can control the tempo, keep possession and open up defenses with precise passing.
