Would you phone your loved ones?
Would you phone your loved ones?
If, heaven forbid, you were ever caught up in something like the Grenfell tower fire where you thought you were unlikely to survive, would you phone your loved ones?
I’m honestly not sure what I would do. On the one hand I would like to speak to them for what would probably be the last time but on the other hand I’m concerned that it would only make it worse and leave them even more traumatised. Would it be better not to know what was happening and learn about it later?
I’m inclined to think that it would be better not to call but if it came to it I can’t be sure that I wouldn’t.

Depends if it was after 7 o'clock. Evenings and weekends are fine on the landline.

I'd tell them to find the money, tell them I did it for the family and then give them a list of random numbers as coordinates.
Then hang up.
Then hang up.

I'd send txts to them all, because they're all useless at answering their phones.

I'd be too busy taking exclusive photos of the fire for instagram and snapchat likes and subscribers to think about my nearest and dearest.

I would have said no chance at all if someone had read the OP to me and said what are the chances of the first reply making you laugh.

I'd be doing my utmost to escape.
However if it came to a point where the chance of escape had completely diminished, I'd probably be on eBay trying to buy Snap On spanners. Or looking at cars I can't afford.
That and deleting my ''engineering shafts and holes'' search history

And then lobbing yourself into the fire as the prospect of death is now much less depressing so you might as well just get on with it?HelloHiGoodbye wrote:I'd be on here reading ablueclaret moaning about whoever we've just signed.
Re: Would you phone your loved ones?
Nah, I'd setup a livestream on Facebook and let everyone, friends and family see my final few minutes. Not sure they'd appreciate me knocking one final one out though.

Re: Would you phone your loved ones?
My cousin was in a similar life or death situation once. He was on a plane to New Mexico when all of the sudden the hydraulics went. The plane started spinning around, going out of control. So he decides it's all over and whips it out and starts beating it right there. So all the other passengers take a cue from him and they start whipping it out and beating like mad. So all the passengers are beating off, plummeting to their certain doom, when all of the sudden, the hydraulics kick back in, and the plane rights itself. It lands safely and everyone puts their pieces or, whatever you know, away and deboard. Nobody mentions the phenomenon to anyone else.

Wow I would be impressed if I could do that. Hate flying, mine practically disappears when I even think of getting on a plane.

Re: Would you phone your loved ones?
I know a surgeon and he'd just been on a disaster management course. Told me they no longer should attempt to match number of male/female heads with to male/female body parts because so many people have had sex changes or transgender.
