Hi all,

Looking to install a new kitchen in my house and was just wondering if any one has any tips on who to buy from (already got fitter lined up so its just for the kitchen itself). Looking to keep it relatively cheap.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Howdens. Good range for a decent price, but they only sell to trade. Carcasses are ready assembled. IKEA recently got the nod from Which magazine, they also offer a 25 year guarantee. Flat pack is a down side, and also having to go to IKEA is a negative. Happy shopping.
Howdens will also Send someone to your house to design your kitchen FOC.

Howdens - i think you can go and view the kitchens but a tradesman (your fitter?) has to buy it

Wickes ones are excellent

(Mind you, we won ours in a radio competition so it didn't cost us anything)

decide if you want a new kitchen or just replace doors/drawers to different/higher spec as an option. Did the changing drawers/doors/hardware to higher spec/soft close etc. and kitchen looks great and was much cheaper than a full change out, but did add one more cupboard with glass doors to provide more space too.

You get what you pay for when it comes to kitchens. Buy cheap pay twice, all depends how long it needs to last. And your budget obviously.

Another vote for Howdens. Excellent service n design as they come to your house & plan it how you want it. As said above though they only sell to trade.

Give Crown Cabinets Burnley a call on 01282 454008. If you ask they sometimes have surplus stock in which you can get a good deal on. They will come out, measure up, possibly giving you alternative designs you may not have thought of and give you a price

Currently having one fitted, bought from Magnet trade. Excellent quality and the service has been superb. Bought my appliances and worktops separately as there's much better deals to be had.

Magnet were going to use my fitter's trade account but in the end just set up a trade account in my name and gave me the same price.

Forget the big chains. I used Shaws at Colne. Better quality than the others, ie 18mm backs instead of poss 6mm. Much better deal too.

Another recommendation for Shaws Kitchens and doors in Colne, top quality and honest pricing. Had ours installed about a year ago and have recommended them to many others since.

avoid Howdens like the plague!

And as above- both brothers are big Clarets!

Cost about 10k, over 2 grand for B&Q to fit.

If you are competent enough to design and measure yourself, have a look at DIY Kitchens. I went to their showrooms in Wakefield after much researching. Excellent quality, huge choice, made to order and very competitive. I paid around 10k for a large kitchen diner and small utility room, with Bosch oven, hob, dishwasher, 5 pieces of granite worktop, ceramic sink, pull out larder unit, magic corner units. Got a joiner to help me measure and design on the understanding he got the install job.
