The most miserable day of the year

I think it's the third Monday in January that is supposed to be the most depressing of the year, but today comes close. Not just because it's a Monday but the weather and the ennui and the feeling of a winter to come.
I have no positive feelings at all. It's a sort of clean sheet with which to be creative maybe.
I lost the weekend to illness from self harm. I picked up a rejected art work and haven't looked again at it.
I've fallen out with everyone.

I'm just hoping the feeling of contrite-ness will inspire a modicum of good sense to aid a recovery.

It's my 30th birthday today so it's definitely not the most miserable day - not for me anyway
The most miserable day for me is the first day of summer (believe it or not!). Spanish summers are too hot and I basically feel like I can't do anything without drowning in sweat.
I hope tomorrow is much better for you!

Is there an emoticon for feeling so much grief one wants to puke it out. It's like a physical virtual lump.

Good luck Pstotto. Hope you feel better soon and post some more of the wonderful randomness you are capable of.
I enjoyed your you tube vid of your hand not doing much. That was mind bending. And one of these days you will need to explain to me what you see in those squiggles you draw on newspapers and such (hopefully without using all those Buddhist type words which I don't understand)!!

My birthday is coinciding with my honeymoon and we're currently packing up to return home! But I've had a great day so far

It's only 5.35pm here at present so the evening is still young! Mind you, when I am feeling down, I find this forum is great.

the moon just moved out of Cancer and into something else.
July I was as gloomy as **** and then suddenly this weekend it's like i've been on an absinthe high.
I don't believe in the astrological stuff but it certainly happened.

It affects me a great deal. Always the Moon, I have to write the full moon down in the calendar to keep me aware of it. If you can become aware of the Moon in all its phases it can become clear.

Just try to look for positives. They are there but are difficult to see at times. Tomorrow is just around the corner and tomorrow always brings hope.
Good luck mate.

Sounds like you are having a difficult time at the moment. It will get better, even though it probably doesn't feel like it at the moment.
I wish you all the best.

I've had a good day. Would have been my mum's 94th birthday so she's been at the centre of everything.

I got rushed into hospital last Monday, at best I'll be stuck on the couch for the next 3 months. It was my 41st operation in the last 5 years. So last Monday was the worst day of the year for me. I better keep smiling though or Fidel will start giving me grief again

Before winter there's Autumn the most lovely time of year, gentle sunny days, wild raucous weather, moody mistiness, the beauty of ripened fruit.
When an acquaintance of mine committed suicide on a wet summers evening, I was haunted for several years after by the fact that the next morning was bursting with sunlight, why I used to ask myself hadn't he hung on for that sunlight and been around to enjoy it's healing warmth and balm.
It made me very aware of being grateful for the simple pleasures in life and getting out and enjoying them.
I'd always been a cerebral sort of person up until then but it made me aware just how important being was, existing in the present and enjoying physical endeavour and people's company.
From my experience it's when we become too complex, introverted and self obsessed that problems arise, but of course as you are aware those somewhat molevolent factors are often at the heart of the creative process.

hi Pstotto, You have my sympathy. I understand how you feel. Personally, I am ok at the moment but once the nights start drawing in that will change.
I get out everyday. Anywhere....garden, park or country walk. It's about getting light, fresh air and exercise.
Don't let the rejected artwork get you down. Every artist knows how it feels. Just get on with the next piece.
Manchester Art Gallery has an exhibition of Shirley Baker's documentary photos of 30's & 40's life in Manchester. I found it uplifting.

I once lived in a commune where everybody thought the world was beautiful, everything was beautiful, and yet I felt bleak. Gradually I realised it was all a myth, these people were pretending, life was actually lost to them because their feelings had vanished into words.
When you saw their dull eyes you knew they just weren't living in reality.
It is accepting the sometimes grim reality of things that helps, realising that along the way bright moments will emerge, new dreams and visions come, even in the bleakest times there is hope if you look out and let the good in the world come in.

Hope you make a speedier than expected recovery, Viva. I didn't realize that you'd been in and out of hospital so often!
If you're well enough, and you can ever get back over to blighty, then we'll have to meet up at The Turf some time.
