Encouragement for a fellow Claret

Hi all.
I read all the time but seldom post, but some on here and from the old days on Clarets Mad will recall posts regarding my son who is Autistic and how taking him on the match really has helped bring him on leaps and bounds and has been a season ticket holder for the past 8 years. He really has thrown himself in to media and now study's this at college which brings it's own obvious difficulties. His dream is to work alongside the production team in front of behind the camera and hey we all have dreams. He has saved up for his own video editing software and will be doing short videos about his match day vists which i want to encourage to give him some confidence in something he likes doing without him being told by all who don't have a heart that he us stupid or useless because he sees things differently. He has done a warm up video at the game on Tuesday which I have linked below and although he obviously has a long way to go, but he is proud of his editing and effects, so all I ask is if you have a spare couple of minutes give the lad some encouragement from fellow Clarets which would be massive for his esteem and confidence and I'm sure it will improve him massively.
A good recommendation from further in this post was to add all the links to the OP which I have done below...

It means a lot mate, and just read to him what you said and once I mentioned " Vizeh" it was like he just met Dyche, so to say he looks up to him is an understatement. Thanks again.

don't know how to comment on youtube but great that he's financed the software himself - shows commitment!
entertaining show of events + showing promise!
I like to see the build-up to matches...fans arriving at stadium and all that goes on around Turf Moor before + after game!
...I'll look out for other broadcasts!

It means the world to him he is just sat there seeing how many have viewed it and seeing the comments on here laughing while I have a relieved proud tear in my eyes.
CT once borrowed his great great grandads diaries from when he was the caretaker of Turfmoor, we don't sit too far from CT and when he returned them to us he couldn't believe he had met CT and although he met Marin Tyler that day also he did nothing but go on about CT, made me chuckle but it is just his outlook on life.

Good for him! Glad he's enjoying it and that he has a dream that he is working towards

I particularly enjoyed the edit in which he very quickly cut from the Celta Vigo logo to his chips

. thought the production was a good effort for a first time try. He likes the inclusion of music to videos like this - too often in this sort of thing there is just background noise which quickly makes people lose interest.
His one suggestion for next time is that the feet on the stairs shot be replaced by perhaps a shot of the facing stand - it made him feel a bit queasy!

Yes I agree....around the park view pub even the prinny pre match in the beer garden...catch all the excitement etc. I have lots of photos from years gone by At football. But only one video clip from the 88 Sherpa van showing my son aged 3. Everyone loves to look back in times gone by and you can make it possible with your vlogs.your the future!

Well done, young man. If it's something you're interested in then keep at it. Listen to good advice but most importantly put your own stamp on it. Keep going and if I see you on match day I'll say hello. Good luck.

Much appreciated mate I'm going to show him all these replies tomorrow as he has not seen the latest ones, I have to say it's the happiest I have seen him in a long time, and for all the bad this board sometimes produces this is definitely a massive positive and may actually be a turning point which again has come from the Clarets. Much appreciated to all, and thankyou

and by the end of the season you will be producing a masterpiece.

Well done to the young man, a great first effort and I will watch the rest of his videos with interest.
Wish this technology was around in the 80's and 90's when I used to travel all around the country watching the Clarets, would be some interesting footage in the back of a Sensibly Priced minibus or a tranny van with the lads.

Enjoyed watching the vlog. Some "edgy" stuff, pushing and stretching and going beyond what the typical football cameras usually show. Loved the walk up the steps to the stand; I got that sense of anticipation and excitement when you step out from "back stage" and arrive in the light getting your first view of the pitch and everything else inside the stadium.
And, I could almost taste the chips!
Looking forward to seeing more.
Well done, Dad, too.

Enjoyed that apart from the chips and gravy. I'm sat here salivating, they only serve them with curry sauce around here.
thought his use of graphics was excellent and along with others I liked his tour of the store.
Get him a camera leg for Xmas, he deserves it, or am I to 1990s. hand held can make me queasy at times but it is the standard for vlogs.
never felt like a first effort. well done that man.

Welcome to the board, Michael/The YouTube Joker,
Thanks for posting your vlog. I'm not sure what to make of the Hannover fans - there seemed to be a lot of empty space in the CFS. I wasn't at the game. Your vlog gives a different perspective to the reports in the media - and the other thread on here.
Keep up the great vlogs.

Another excellent Vlog, joker. I didn't particularly like the c&b striped text, it was difficult to read at times, and you might like to edit your text where you wrote inquired instead of injured. I'll be waiting for your next vlog.

I think the vlog put a lot of presumptions around the incident on Saturday to bed, but also shows the age of people caught up in it and the feeling in the ground a out it.

Enjoyed that
Agree with piston about the colour text. Maybe it's my older eyes but make it difficult to read against the backgrounds. Maybe use blue with Claret outline?
Look forward to seeing these progress during the season

Agreed with text colour. He was rushing this 1 a little trying to get uploaded ASAP to quosh some the misconception about Saturday flying around. I think a major point on this video is it shows just how many of the away fans stayed in their seats and how many were charging the stewards, which would say is a lot more than the minority that Hanover claimed in their statement.

Fantastic again Michael and agree getting better every time. If the Mods don't mind I think your better of making a new post every time you do a vlog rather than keep bringing this 1 back up, or maybe in 1 place will tell the tale of the season at home, what does everyone else think?
Looks like I'm going to have to get you a proper camera to do this on instead of your phone, Vizeh if you are watching what do I need to buy him please mate? Also the software he uses seems to take 24 hours to export, wondershare or something it's called, should he be looking at something else?
To all, thanks very much for all your encouragement, it's worked and there is definite passion exploding now thanks to you all, which is important in so many ways. Thanks again, from a proud Dad and Claret, much appreciated.

Hi ClaretAL,
I'm no expert but I know a little so take from this what you will! From what I gather, the Wondershare video software is reasonably good so you may be fine sticking with that. What sort of spec is the PC that is being used for the editing? Video export / rendering can be a slow process and theres a good chance that its the computer you are using that is more of an issue than the software. Things such as processor speed, the amount of RAM and the speed (and number) of hard drives you have will all have a big impact. Even with a good spec you can still wait hours for a video to finish it's export / render.
I imagine your son would like to both grow his channel in terms of the number of views / subscribers he is getting whilst also using it as a training ground for developing his video editing skills. He's made a really solid start from what I have seen. The biggest battle is being confident enough to get in front of the camera and actually put the video's out there (and my opinion is that he is pretty good in front of the camera and he's no fool when it comes to editing either). He's already done that so the rest is just about fine tuning what he's doing.
In terms of the videos themselves, he shows some clever touches. I like the direction he's gone with the thumbnail he used for the Burnley v West Brom video. It's definitely the best of the 3. One thing I've heard a few 'expert' youtubers discuss is the length of the videos. Again, I'll say I'm not an expert myself, but I believe that the general Youtube audience has a short attention span and they are much more likely to watch a short video rather than a long one. A good experiment for him to try would be to try and make one of his future VLOGs last around 5 minutes rather than 15 to 25minutes. Something like....
60secs - introduce todays game, a few match facts, his opinion on the result/how it will go
30secs - scenes edited together of his travel to the games with the music playing over
120secs - some match highlights / crowd reactions
30secs - scenes edited together of his travel home from the game with the music playing over
60secs - conclude the video with his thoughts on the game / any major talking points
Overall the video would still follow a very similar theme to how he is doing it now, but it would be a quicker watch for viewers (he can still produce the full length version and put a link to it in the shorter youtube video so anybody who prefers the longer one can still watch it). It would force him to really look at his footage and pick the really good stuff whilst being able to brutally chop the not so good. A good skill to develop in editing! In theory, if he could nail down a really slick 5 minute VLOG for each game he covers he could really pick up a good number of regular viewers.
Also, I don't know Vizeh at all, but I have seen his videos and he clearly knows what he's doing. I'm sure he could improve on any advice I've given, so if you haven't been in touch with him yet I'd cross post this thread onto one of the Vizeh threads on here. He seems like a decent chap so I'm sure he'd be more than happy to pass on some tips or even collaborate on a future video!

Hi Mike.
Really do appreciate the feed back and I know my son is taking on board all the comments made and improving from them, although i think his Blacburn vlog will probably be longer than 5 minutes lol. I am quickly understanding this is going to be an expensive hobby looking at sony Vegas software and a cannon gx7 camera that seem to be the go to tools.

The quality of your camera let you down on that, but hopefully your new 1 should be here in time for Leeds. Absolutly fanrastic day and I think you got the emotion just right. CT nearly got on but turned around just in time lol. CT I reckon you should let him film you do a score prediction before each home match as we sit near you.
