We could potentially have a midfield of:

JBG....Defour...Cork...Hendrick....Brady.

We aren't going anywhere near that scruffy Championship.

We'll be fiiiiiiiiiiine. It won't be pretty but it'll be effective. Mid-table, pushing for the top ten. There's a lot of hype but the Prem's a doddle really.

As the squad currently stands its virtually nailed on that we will be scraping it at the bottom.

Very poor transfer business done so far and Dyche isnt very dynamic in the transfer market either.

probably an over reaction but this really is the nail in the coffin.

How can burnley sell arguably our best player and main goal scorer two days before the season starts.

If we don't sign a top forward in the coming days I doubt we will score 30 goals all season

We are in a scrap alright posting that potential midfield all ok but a few early season injuries we are goosed our summer transfer business has been abysmal so far ..

Keep the faith. Regarding Keane - a Dyche team will not concede a lot of goals. So I don't think we need to worry about that. Tarkowski will do a fantastic job, I'm sure. However, I still expect us to sign another CB to compete with Tarkowski and Mee. As far as I'm concerned, Long should probably be 4th choice but Dyche may have other ideas.

And now on Gray - he is hardly a world beater. I think my concerns are that I felt we needed a striker before selling Gray. Now I want to see 2 new strikers and I don't think that'll happen. Whoever we sign should really have some pace - we can't afford not to add more pace to this side. We all know we need it so hopefully Dyche does too!

Let's see how things pan out by the end of the transfer window. I want the following: CB, Winger/Wide Mid, ST (x2). It'll probably be just 2 of those 4 but if they're quality players who can go straight into the first team then we'll probably be okay.

Not 3 hours, not 3 days.

3 very very long weeks....

There's still 3 weeks left so we could get the additions in, no need to panic but i must admit to being a little concerned. The worrying thing for me is any additions now might take a couple of months to get to full speed and gel with the squad. Our past record in the transfer windows dosnt fill me with the greateat confidence but in Dyche we trust.

I'd have had us as finishing 18th, with Gray. It's got harder, but let's see what Dyche can pull out of the hat, first.

Ifs n buts there mate.

As for selling our best player.

Has Tom Heaton gone!?

The timings not great. BUT we've a few quid to spend.

Let the manager (who got us promoted to the premier league, twice, and the first to keep us there) spend that money.

Keep, the claret n blue, faith.

Get a grip. Think Heaton and Vokes might take issue with your assessment of Gray!

We're a team that is greater than the value of the individuals. We've survived the loss of better players than AG and been fine. We were in a scrap with or without Keane and Gray, so nothing changed imo.

We are two good buys away from having a fantastic chance of staying up, and there's still 3 weeks of the window left.

If I'd told you in May you'll start the new season with vokes upfront and no replacement bought for Keane after selling him, I'd have got untold abuse.

Its a bit bizzare I'd have to say. If the money vanishes, you have to question dyches position.

That's obviously worst case scenario.

??

I thought I was the most pessimistic poster on here by a long chalk but even I'm not that bothered about Gray going, I prefer Vokes and a five man midfield.
Did we win the league with Gray?
Did he score 20 goals?

He was alright, nothing special, good luck and all that.

We will still finish above Watford, we won't go down were a much stronger side with this squad playing a 4-5-1 an gray doesnt fit in to that. Our only away win last season came with gray as a sub.
With the right acquisition we will be much stronger than last season an much stronger than Watford

Agreed ..............it's as if we have never sold anyone of importance............... Jimmy Mac, Dobbo, Taffy, Thomas, Skippy, Austin, Ings, Jayrod, Keane ...............we ARE a Premier League Club but some folk on here just can't seem to accept that, I feel they would be happier if we were struggling in the 4th tier.

Anyone that thinks gray was not one of our best players is just plain stupid. His goal record speaks for itself.

This is a massive loss

Can honestly say that I'm not really bothered. Had a good season in the Championship as he had excellent service from a winning team.

I was more worried when we sold JayRod, Austin, Andy Gray, Ings and Leighton James.

Practically everyone in this league has greater pull/spending power than we do - it's inevitable that in a buyer's market our best players are likely to go before we can bring replacements in. It was less than ideal but Defour and Hendrick both arrived after the start of last season. Similar will happen again this time. We'll definitely bring in a striker. Also expect a CB and in an ideal world a winger too.

Given our track record we'll spend big on at least one, probably two of those - it's impossible to assess our survival chances based on where we are today with 3 weeks of the window remaining.

Gray has been the scorer of some spectacular goals, but he's certainly not an "all-round" attacker, like Vokes is. Vokes lacks Gray's pace, but as a player, I still prefer him.

We're in a better position than the Swansea opener last season were the team was weaker than the one that went up.

If we have Long as 3rd choice CH then the centre halves pick themselves. Plus we need a pacy goalscoring pest up top even if he spends most of his time on the bench because we need a plan B, C etc. That'll make it 5 target men with Agyei continuing to develop.

And we could possibly do with an extra winger who can catch pigeons and take the ball with him, but doesn't everyone? so join the queue on that one.

I'm slightly concerned but we seem to endlessly be a work in progress, so no need for panic buttons just yet.

A club after winning just 2 out of their last 15 league games, then goes on to sell their 2 most valuable assets all before bringing any direct replacements in.

I keep reading 'theres three weeks left in the transfer window'.............. Well why didn't we tell Watford that and sign a replacement striker before selling Gray????

Oh how we doing finding that replacement defender for Keane ........ how many weeks have we been trying??
