Yeah 3-2 up away at the champions and let's discuss the shortcomings of one of our own players! How sad.

It's got everything to do with it. He's inexperienced against the premier league champions - still will be a great player for us, given a chance

I like the lad and think he's had a good game, but regardless of who we're playing, he can't ball watch like that

Need a replacement for Tarks - ball watching against 9 men, imagine if it were 11, yes lets celebrate but build on the win

Win against the champions and you have to have a whipping boy.

First game of the season against the League Champions, who even with 9 men have more quality than we have. And who could have given us a real hiding had they not lost the plot. It's a good job we capitalised on their mistakes.
Tarkowski made errors yes, he will learn from this and he will get better now playing every week. You can only learn so much in training.

Give the lad a chance , how many games has he played in this league,do you not think he will learn as he the season goes on

He'll learn from playing in these sort of games but you're taught as a kid not to ball watch. Great result though!

What's your point? Nobodys making him a whipping boy but pointing out some costly mistakes or isn't that allowed on a footballing forum?

he made 2 mistakes , but other than that was excellent...the mistakes he made can be worked on and hopefully not repeated,,,bizarrely they may actually make him better

Fantastic day to be a Claret and some people can only dwell on the negatives, I bet you are a barrel of laughs at parties
Get a grip and celebrate, we have just beaten the league champions and are 3rd in the PL.
Oh forgot our 'rivals' just lost at home against Doncaster and are 3rd bottom in League One
These are fine times, they won't last forever, ENJOY!!!!!!!

Seem to remember same said about Keano...dropped for Duff. Big learning curve for the lad...Boden giving him lots of plaudits for his 1st half display.

Not helped by the fact that we dropped deep, panicked and gave the ball away too much. Oh but wait it was Chelsea at the Bridge

I've heard they can play a bit.

Tarks was outstanding apart from the two lapses in concentration - clearly something he needs to eradicate sharply because he has the makings of a top drawer centre half.

Tarkowski did a lot right today. Let's also keep that in mind. Made a particularly vital block in the first half. He didn't get much of a run of games last season. Hopefully he will this season and he'll get better and better. However, we do need to keep improving the squad. So I want Shawcross or Dawson. Dawson is unlikely, in my opinion though.

His contributions were being lauded throughout most of the game especially in the first half when playing against eleven men. It was a long game. Twists and turns. We won. The idiots giving him flak should hold their heads in shame.

Of course it is, but maybe a number of us find it strange that whilst we are beating the champions away from home, the OPs first thought is to start a thread criticising one of our players.
Some people will clearly never be happy.

Ridiculous thread. Tarkowski played well for the vast majority of the game. Well done lad. He'll get better with more games with Mee under his belt

Switched off for both goals and it's happened too many times to ignore. He just needs a run off games and a Dyche word. He'll come good. That said, wahooooooooooo!!!

Didn't watch it and so hard to comment on his role in the goals though he sounded to play well according to Clarets Player.
Even if he is at fault, people should remember Ben Mee played very well in many games last year yet had lapses in concentration which cost us goals. He did however almost eradicate those instances by the end of the season and hopefully Tarks will be given the chance and do the same.

I think whilst we rightly celebrate there were some concerning signs with Tarks. He, like the team was outstanding in the first half, not so much in the second. Ignoring the goals I was more alarmed that David Luiz got away from Tarks on every single set piece, he has to sharpen up and hopefully that will come with experience. We'll know soon enough what the manager thinks if he brings in another CB. Bit harsh to nail the OP, it's a perfectly valid discussion

Have to say when the lad Morata came on he is like a bloody whippet and he is a big unit as well, there are a lot of teams going to struggle more than us once he is fully fit. 2 mistakes doesn't mean the hang man's noose tha knows.

The OP didn't criticise Tarks though. Mearly left an open ended question to create discussion.
For what it's worth I thought Tarks played well today by and large. He did get caught twice though costing 2 goals and Iv no problem saying so.
Fantastic victory and sets us up nicely for the next game.

Making mistakes is not the end of the world.
As long as you learn from them.

In the first half he did really well, a couple of blips in the second half, but give him his dues this was a mountain of a game and towards the end a true test of character in the face of nerves. Chelsea came alive again in the second half and bringing on Morata (albeit an unfit Morata) provided them with a very dangerous cutting edge.
For his part Mee didn't hesitate to welcome Morata to the league
I think I crapped enough bricks for Barnfields to build us a new stadium and I can't begin to imagine how the lads must have been feeling. I think Tarks did a commendable job for us today, quite a few positives, some pointers towards things he can work on and under the circumstances a respectable display. More match time and experience will only make him even better, but I still think we need to add another defender to our roster even if it is only to provide cover for the unforeseeable.

You make a post like this when, at the same time, you're the main protagonist against Tarkowski? Do you suffer from some sort of split personality.

If Mee was under his belt, no wonder he lost concentration
