Unbelievable

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sat Aug 12, 2017 4:58 pm

First half best performance ive ever seen from us. From back to front they were immense. Cork and defour were outstanding. The back four. Vokes. Everyone of them were unreal. Naturally came under pressure from first minute of second half.

Atmosphere even at nil nil was as good as ive seen away.

Proud to be a claret.

That first half was the best I've seen since we beat Forest in Dyche's second season.

Listening to Radio 5 for that lat 20 minutes (and particularly the last 6) has to be about the most sick-inducing nerve-shredding downright life-endangering thing I have ever done.
Cannot wait for MOTD ...what a result !!!!

1st half was probably the best midfield performance I've seen from us. Got on the ball, used it well, worked hard in packs without it, won the second ball and put some real quality into the mix.

I couldn't believe how composed we looked.

Proud isnt the word, the way our midfield set and play is a pleasure to watch. If we stayed with that formation from here on in, I can see is amounting a higher points tally than last season. Bring on the bogie team in West Brom and see if we can undo the hoodoo

Yes and some assh*le is criticising Tarky on another thread for losing Morata, with his Champions League pedigree at Juventus and Real Madrid, for the 2 Chelski goals. That is what is really UNBELIEVABLE

That last 20 mins was like the last 20 mins of the play off final for me... Wanting to believe we would do it but just struggling to see us doing it

Excellent performance in 1st half, feel like we didn't take advantage of the additional players in 2nd half though. Class team to play against so should have expected they would bring the game to us in the 2nd half.

Well done Lads - got the away win monkey straight off our backs.

A wonderful afternoon even though they came back at us with only 9 players.

The midfield was immense.

Ward shot a bullet.

Great all round performance and top support from Clarets fans..

Chelsea fans that I spoke to, were good sports.

Today we had a strong capable referee who wasn't going to be bullied by a home crowd..

MOTD is a must and we're on first..!

Shearer was oozing compliments afterwards

I'm sure about now Sean is telling them "one game at a time..."

I thought we were pretty solid today, not really sparkling in any way but Chelsea just could not hurt us on their, rare, attacks in the first half. I didn't really see us getting out of second gear but what I did see, which was heartening, was just an absolute comfortable performance as a team.

Isn't this what is so wonderful about football.

We go to Chelsea, fearing but hoping we don't get a thrashing, maybe just lose 2-1 or so, and this happens. It will go in Burnley annuls like the win at Luton, the League Cup draw at Chelsea and others.

Superb!

A bonus 3 pts to start the season, unbelievable but well deserved. I'm going to gloat over the reports today, then back to reality.
One game at a time. If anyone takes WBA for granted we'll get bitten. Thankfully we have Sean to keep our feet on the ground.

I never expected that result yesterday, but the performance first half, with 5 across the middle, was exactly what I expected. I hope all the doom and gloom merchants can now give their heads a shake, and accept that SD and the board know what they are doing.

Dyche certainly knows how to set a team up. Extremely well organised and they looked like they really enjoyed themselves. Every player knew their job and it was an extremely professional display. They weren't intimidated when the Chelsea fans were baying for blood and kept their nerve even at 3-2. Such a shame that Robbie Brady free kick didn't go in. A well deserved win. Let's hope we can build on that.

Outstanding amazing result

The only complaint (and it is a small one) is that our game management when they went down to nine could have been a lot better.

But thats not likely to happen again!

Be interesting to see what formation we line up with against the Baggies.
