Indeed! Brighton with backs to the wall most of the game. I think we all know the feeling though!clarethomer wrote:An early lesson in the Premier League...

Re: Dale Stephens
Genuine question: would he make our midfield, if we could buy him? I'm not convinced.

Re: Dale Stephens
I'd completely forgotten about him. He'd possibly be fifth choice here now.

Re: Dale Stephens
more interested in seeing how they react and dunk scores OG...
I thought Dunk was having a great game too..
Replay just shows what having a safe pair of hands in goal can mean. Keeper should have caught that.

Re: Dale Stephens
He looks slow, cumbersome and very much lower league.
Like the entire Brighton team have.

Not now he wouldn't. He'd be behind Cork, Defour and Hendrick for sure. I really like Westwood as well so...FactualFrank wrote:Genuine question: would he make our midfield, if we could buy him? I'm not convinced.

Re: Dale Stephens
I think they'll go down. They'll get much more press than we ever have (Brighton's a nice city, fancy stadium, close to London) but they don't have enough quality. Neither did Burnley last season but we knew that and kept it tight and gritty. Brighton will try to be a mini-Arsenal and drop.jedi_master wrote:He looks slow, cumbersome and very much lower league.

The step up is huge, we know it more than most after it took three bites at the cherry to stay here.
I look at their squad and only really feel Knockaert is a player who is truly cut out for this league. The likes of Hemed, Stephens, Dunk, Duffy etc are very slow and poor on the ball.

Knobhaert been on the pitch 5 mins and dived twice, absolutely nailed on he'll be banned at some stage this season for it

I hope they drop, took a dislike to them and Boro during the promotion season.

Re: Dale Stephens
They have absolutely nothing up front centrally. Just can't see them scoring enough goals. Straight lines and well organised, probably won't take lots of beatings, in short they remind me of us 14-15.

Re: Dale Stephens
Brighton have just played the apparent favourites to win the league. They held on stubbornly for nearly 70 minutes and made a couple of slip ups to concede.
I didn't think they did so badly for a first game and shouldn't be written off on the strength of it.

Re: Dale Stephens
In fairness he / they have just played their first ever Premier League match against many people's favourites to win the league. It's a bit early to be writing them off.

Re: Dale Stephens
Quote from the beeb
"Brighton, who had less than 22% of possession, spent most of the game defending in their own half "
Now that is a welcome to the premier league.
Anyone else recall us having a similar stat against a top 5 side but still getting something from the game ???
Difference between staying up and going down

Re: Dale Stephens
And, the Times reports today that Tony Bloom, their owner has lent the club at least £170 million - all interest free.HelloHiGoodbye wrote:I think they'll go down. Apparently, Bloom is a good gambler.
Good luck to him.

Be warming the bench. A long way behind the current midfielders.

Played like Dale Winton.
