Abel Hernandez. Should we be interested?

Post by Mala591 » Mon Aug 14, 2017 4:20 pm

A very good technical player who has had some injury problems. I think he has scored 30 in 90 appearances for Hull. Could link up well with Vokes. Should we be interested?

Not for me. I prefer the system we played on Saturday with a lone striker but it remains to be seen if Dyche will stick with that system.

If he was reasonably cheap then possibly but he's a definite downgrade on Gray. 20 goals in the Championship 2 seasons ago and only 4 in 24 last season. He had injuries last season but not a great record when he did play. He also only got 4 in 26 PL games when they first signed him.

As an option yes. As first choice no.

Much as I like the set up we played at Chelsea we certainly need quick mobile forward to mix it up, even if it is just someone who we can bring on for counter attacking teams dying stages of away games. 4-5-1 can be aggressive but it is not fool proof. We need to be able to completely change formation / approach mid match when necessary. Much as I like our other forwards we don't have anyone who can terrify tired defenders.

Hi Dom, certainly hope we can put out the same team as Saturday - and win again. Think most of us expect some flexibility with team set-up. And, it wouldn't surprise me if sometimes Sean Dyche picks a 4-4-2 team.

Anyone else think we should be interested in Hernandez?

I think we need this type of player rather than Wood (who would be on the bench if Vokes was fit).

More proven than Wood, different to what we have, so adds to the team.
Probably cheaper.

Yes on every account

Nope

Think his wages would be the issue, and he's been brilliant in the champ, not so hot in the prem.

Yes, provided we can pay his wages.
Good contrast to the others.

He's on £60k a week. Good player, but I can't see it.

Before Wood but I don't see either as an upgrade on what we have.

Bad news for Hernandez. I hope he makes a complete recovery.

Well. We will just have to make do with Florin Andone.

Now where is that £20 million we have 'saved' by not spending it on Wood and Clucas.

That's a bad injury - what Matty Taylor got three years ago that kept him out for much of the season.

If I remember correctly Trevor Francis did something similar back in time as did Neil Webb and they never really recovered to what they used to be.
