Virtually yes, this was the team pic in the summer after relegation minus such as Waldron, Docherty, Collins and Morgan who had all virtually been sacked by Lord because they'd supported Adamson.andyh wrote:That is the team that got relegated isn't it?

It was Ken Cronshaw, photographer whose studio was on the main road in Padiham, on the right hand side going from Burnley just past the fountain (which doesn't exist).Steve1956 wrote:I have a black &White team photo of this team taken by Ken Cronshaw I think he was called with all the signatures at the bottom,my Mum& Dad bought it for an Xmas present,it's still at my ex wife's house i think I will try a retrieve this.

Four internationals or future internationals on that picture.
At Chelsea on Saturday we started with seven and two more came on as subs.

It's in a wood frame, with glass covering the picture, think it cost them £9.99 from the club all those years back, also has KC in blue letters in the corner, quite a nice piece really, she's probably thrown it outClaretTony wrote:It was Ken Cronshaw, photographer whose studio was on the main road in Padiham, on the right hand side going from Burnley just past the fountain (which doesn't exist).

From left is Colin Morris. Keeper is Gerry Peyton who is now goalkeeping coach at Arsenal.BleedingClaret wrote:Cant name the Right hand keeper or front row most left, will kick myself.

Morris went to Southend but then came back north and had a long career with Blackpool and then Sheffield United before finishing as player/manager at Scarborough.BleedingClaret wrote:Cheers Tony yep Peyton I should have got.

He was a winger in the youth team that reached the semi-finals in 1971, along with Taffy, Ian Brennan and Billy Ingham. He made his first team debut against Wimbledon in the 1975 FA Cup defeat but he only played 14 first team games for us.BleedingClaret wrote:Can't have played much for us

Re: Team pic from over 40 years ago
God I remember that team so well.
Always thought Brian Miller and Joe Brown had a thankless task with Bob Lord controlling things behind the scenes at that time.
Interesting how Joe Brown ended up at Man U for over 25years helping to build the foundations there of a strong youth policy that nurtured the Class of 92
I went to his funeral a couple of years ago - the former players in attendance from Burnley and Man U showed how well he was respected.

You would struggle to find a nicer man than Joe Brown. He was treated appallingly by Bob Lord and for the next 25 years Man U's gain was definitely our loss.iluva64 wrote:God I remember that team so well.

He suffered from dementia sadly. I used to see him and his wife Connie in the supermarket nearly every week. Some weeks he'd chat and others he'd blank me. Connie apologised for him one day but I said there was no need to and no need for an explanation. One week later and we must have spent 10-15 minutes chatting about football.

Always thought Colin Morris had something more to offer. Played really well at Everton early 1976 in a 3-2 win and looked a possible replacement for Leighton James who'd just gone to Derby. Before the next home game to Ipswich we signed Tony Morley and I'm not too sure how many more games he played for us. Can't have been many.BleedingClaret wrote:Cheers Tony yep Peyton I should have got.

Colin Morris went on (later) to play for Boston United 1989/90 - a season when I saw them play a fair few times. And just as I can't remember him at Burnley, I can't remember him play for Boston United either.

Even though that team pic was clearly taken during the summer of '76, there were two players who played in the first few games of the following season that don't feature in that team photo.........Anyone?

I started going on the season after, when we'd gone down and remember Morley and Cochrane well, entranced by them atSilkyskills1 wrote:Always thought Colin Morris had something more to offer. Re: Team pic from over 40 years ago
Replied to another that my first season on the Turf was after we went down in 1976, so it makes sense remember having a photograph of Brennan in the yellow strip bought after I sat central in the CFS as one of his free kicks flew in like a missile in front of me.ClaretTony wrote:He was a winger in the youth team that reached the semi-finals in 1971, along with Taffy, Ian Brennan and Billy Ingham. I can still see Pete Nobles bit of hair flopping as he ran and I've never smoked but still love the smell of cigar smoke as it evokes the feeling I had back then as I sat there literally shaking with a mix of excitement when we attacked and pure fear when they attacked. Hooked for life there and then.

Was my second season following the Clarets. I remember going off the last home game in 75/76 saying "Never mind dad, we'll win promotion next year" - he replied with a stony "No - It'll be a long time before we see first division football again at the Turf". I was so hopeful when this pic was taken - lots of false dawns and a terrible black night before we finally made it back!!
We'd some good players in that team and it's surprising we failed to make any real impact on the second division at all. Not even the return of harry potts could lift it

Peyton was in goal for my second game on the Turf. One of the most eventful 0-0 draws, with the game seeing 3 penalties, all taken by a future Claret. Anyone name him?
