Any electrical/techy members online?

Hi,
I have a relatively new (2 years old) but hardly used Pioneer CD receiver system.

Recently I turned the machine on, and the display board did not light up. I now discover that the auxiliary inputs are not working either. Oddly, the CD player still works.

I am clueless in this regard. I have taken the casing off to check for loose wires etc, but I daren't do any more.

Could the display issue and the auxiliary issue be related? Does anyone have any idea if it can be rectified, or should I take it to the tip? I have been using it to play Minidiscs and vinyl, and I don't fancy shelling out another £100+ for something rarely used.

Where are you based? I've managed to get hold of the service manual, I'd be happy to take a look at it if you're local?

Hi zom,
a protection circuit may have kicked in?
Unplug everything from mains and inputs.
leave a minute
Plug unit back into mains - turn on.
does display come back on?
if Yes - add deck etc back one by one.
if No - its something else.

Worth a quick try

It will probably be something with the main PCB board then? - but I'm no expert.

Is it possible you've turned the display off? Some Pioneer units have that facility on the remote - often a button labelled CLR or DISPLAY.
