No.
And, tbh, I couldn't care less about this one - no injuries and no suspensions are our priority.
If Rovers fans are happy to have the bragging rights after a tin-pot trophy win, let them - it's another sign of their desperation.

Sort of agree.... Ideal situation would be:

Minimum 0-3 win
Rest all the 1st team - give Wood a 30 min runout
No Injuries
No cards

Get this one out of the way and we can throw it in the next round

The reality is that a weak ref will allow all manner of assaults on the lads leading to injuries and/or retaliatory fouls and red and yellow cards.
I hope I'm just being a nervous Nellie and will be proved hopelessly wrong.........there's a first time foe everything ;)

3-0 Clarets. They'll play a weaken team because of their ongoing relegation battle. Our reserves will do the job.

Fair point about injuries and suspensions but presumably Dyche will make a number of changes to mitigate this. So the number one priority is absolutely to win.

We could play a weakened team and get a ton of injuries and suspensions against Tottenham on Sunday. No guarantee these things.
0-4 HT
Wood 1'
Wood 2'
Wood 3'
Wood 45+1'

Any player could get injured in training - they don't only get injured playing games in the Carabao cup!

"We try to win every game" - show it, put the strongest 11 out.

And yes, I think we will just shade it 1-2

If you enter a competition then surely the aim is to win it.

We may play some if not all of the players who haven't started the first two games but they are just as important as the current first XI to our Premier League survival and they could get injured or suspended just as easily.

The majority of our supporters DO give a **** about the result tonight and the club should do as well, momentum on the pitch and also in the stands is what we need to aid our league campaign, a defeat tonight will do us no good what-so-ever, we should take this seriously and learn the lessons of Accrington and Lincoln from last season.

Win the match, pure and simple.

The changes should be to accommodate players who are fit and raring to go but need game time, not to rest or protect anyone.

With the size of the squad now that could mean 7 or 8 changes, and cup runs are important to keep these guys (Pope, Long, Arfield, Barnes etc) on their toes because they will all have contributions to make in the league at some point.

I really don't get people suggesting we 'throw' this game or the next round, these games should be pivotal for lots of reasons.

If you couldn't care less about a derby against our oldest enemy what is the point ?

I'm well up for this and I hope the other 4,999 clarets in the stand with me are too !!!

Pathetic mentality from some. No wonder the atmospheres so bad at times.

Whilst its not the draw I wanted. I want to win every game against them and every competition we enter. Lets smash them.

From the LT Article:

Asked how seriously he was taking it, in terms of the League Cup being a distraction to their Premier League goals, Dyche said: "As seriously as every game that I’ve ever taken in my career.

"I’m a great believer that when that whistle blows, you’ve got to be ready to play it.

"Every game counts, for whatever reason, whether it’s in pre-season, when the mentality’s growing.

“All the games are serious for me, and this one is definitely serious.”

This cup Is a great opportunity to give fringe players competative game time, Rovers will want to win more than us , but we should just edge it on penalties!

I love the idea that just because people are suggesting a few changes to the first team, they are automatically not as good as fans as you lot.

I can't get my head around the mentality that somehow this is a huge game. Have you lot been asleep for the past six years? If they win, sure we'll all be ****** off for a bit, but we rock up to Wembley to play Spurs on Sat whilst they play MK Dons.

Its all changed now, we can treat them like the **** of our shoes, just like they did to us and there is nothing they can do about it.

Just enjoy that feeling, rather than slagging off the other fans who are looking at this with their head AND their heart.

I'm hoping for a Clarets win as much as anybody else but I think in a competition that has started farcically almost as if to prove its irrelevance, we need to avoid injury. I am, of course, talking about the premeditated stuff some of the Rovers wannabees are likely to be allowed to dish out not the everyday injuries players can pick up irrespective of the opposition.
I just have a horrible suspicion Rovers will target any key players we put out, Lincoln-style. It's the only way they can win, after all.
A victory over the Ewood trash would be excellent, I'm just not sure it's worth risking our Premiership wellbeing, as it were.
We're playing at Wembley on Sunday, for God's sake - we really don't need this piffling little sideshow.

I had a dream we scored 3 times the other night at Ewood. It'll be annoying if we were to get beat but this is their biggest game of the season and as stated above. We're at Wembley this weekend while they're slumming it in League 1. I'd get over it pretty damn quickly. Still think we'll win 3-1.

Coming out of it unscathed with a win would be ideal preparation for Sunday.
Failing a win, I'll settle for unscathed.
Fingers crossed and, if you're going, enjoy it.

I expect we'll have a bit of a mix. Players such as Pope, Bardsley, Westwood, Arfield, Barnes and Wood I expect will see some action. I'd be surprised if it's the same side that started our previous 2 games.

Growing up, the first result I always looked for was the Burnley result. Like a lot of others though, the next result I'd look up was to see if Blackburn had lost..... I would hear "last one to cross the line is a Blackburn fan" from teachers and football coaches as a kid. I grew up with the knowledge that they were the bigger side, had the better players, bigger ground and was in awe a little of how they just seemed to be better than us. I had an ex whose dad had a box at Ewood who would always invite me to games but I would decline ..... I would get sly digs constantly from that whole family - especially bringing up the 35 years and how we would never match the "mighty rovers".

Well a few years on and the time has come where we are truly superior .. I don't want us to rest players and play an easy game and not care if we win or lose..... I don't want to lose the unbeaten record against them, the bragging rights. I don't want any ba*tard fan being able to have ANYTHING to ty and wind us up about for a second never mind make us "****** off for a bit".

I want us to beat them like I never imagined possible growing up. I want 5000 clarets in pure euphoria drowning out and deafening all the horse botherers in the whole town never mind the ground. I want Dyche to do his fist pump and for every fan to stay behind and demand our derby day heroes return to the pitch again after annahilating them.

It might be a game that is lost on people who have not lived in the area or were not brought up in the area - but hating the bas*tards is in our genes in Burnley, which makes it even sweeter to know our current positions...... and makes every second of our superiority that much better!!!

If they rough us up theyl have a job against the likes of barnes, bardsley, walters and co.

Its our oldest rivalry. The games gone sadder and softer if we dont want to win and only want to avoid injury.

we need to stuff these. this is the highlight of our season too

We may not play these again for years to come, so we need to make a statement and show our superiority. I'm sure Dyche will drill that into em to, no matter who plays

We might not have wanted this game but in many ways it is just as important as the game on Sunday.

To be fair, if we lose 2-0 it's ok, as long as Bardsley doesn't pick up a strain and is out for 2 weeks, or barnes gets 2 yellows and missis a game...

Get effing real.

I'd take a Barnes 3 game elbow ban and a Bardsley ACL if we beat those bast4rds 5-0 in their own back yard.
I will never forget that 5-0 feeling my whole life.

I want them to feel ashamed, humiliated and put firmly in their place!

Football is about making lifelong memories and stories,. avoidind bookings and strains rarely make interesting pub chatter later in life...

Macca gets it in the sense that if some of our second-string players get injured or suspended then so er, ****ing what - something we all agree on.
Ward ? Hendrick ? Brady? Defour ? Cork? Any of those as well ? Mmmmm, I think not.
Anyway,I hope we're all as chipper tomorrow morning.

What's our ambition? To be like Stoke and West Brom, winning just enough games to stay in the Premier League but nothing else? Or to play football, to win cups? Once you give up all ambition to ever win a trophy, what's the point of playing?

I'd take Stoke and WBA's 'success' at staying in the PL. That will financially secure our club for the future.

If we don't win it could knock the stuffing out of our season. Two defeats and a likely 3rd at Spurs going into an international break is not ideal.

We have changed style and formation this season, it's another game to get used to it.

How many players have benefited from a cup game at Burnley that aren't regulars in the first team? To progress their careers with us?

And that's before we mention who were playing. Swap the full backs that have come to play first team football and Wood up front. The rest need this game.
