Immense in the air but needs to work on his distribution, IMO.

Nearly got caught out late on by their sub striker taking too much time on the ball then getting closed down whilst making a pass. Needs to work on his anticipation, decision making & to play a bit 'quicker' - hopefully all will come with more game time.

There was 6mins injury time due to the treatment on Walters in first few minutes.

Wood replaced him towards the end of half & had 3/4 chances himself

As above. I'd read all about he was a ball player and his passing was great, it isn't.
When he's put under pressure he rushes and gets himself in bother.
Defending is excellent but he needs to look up and give it to a footballer.

He is a good passer and confident on the ball, but his anticipation seems lacking.

He was immense in the air. He won three headers in a row early on in the game within the space of 10 seconds. He will do for me.

I'm still feeling he has more to give yet, a few shaky moments last night against a shite league one team.
He needs time and a good run in the team before judging him.

I can't remember Michael Keane having such a dissection of any performance, in fact any other player.

To single out a hurried pass or even a pass that didn't get to its intended target and make an asssumption based on that and leave out 99% of the good things he did is quite a remarkable achievement in itself.

Jack Cork gave away the ball twice is he in the same boat?

Tarkowski has all the attributes to be the best centre half Burnley FC have had in many a year..........given a chance.

My opinion of him isn't based on last night. It's happening match after match but I still rate him and think he is the man for the job. He just needs to tidy this up.

Agreed, he had the same issues against West Brom. I'm sure that SD will sort it out, he's going to be a cracking player for us.

He is obviously talented but needs to work on his decision making. Mid way through the first half he dived in as he did on Saturday missed again but luckily the player was only league three so didn't have an unhappy outcome like Saturday.
Showing signs of promise but like people are saying above needs to improve some yet and hopefully game time and experience will help him achieve his full,potential. UTC

I just don't get why people feel the need to make negative assumptions about a player so early (EDIT) in his attempt to replace Michael Keane..

Is it so people can say "I told you so" ?

A thread that actually starts positive with "brilliant" in the title is immediately trodden on.

I've said it before goodness knows what will happen on here if he does something wrong. I wouldn't mind if some of the things that are being said made sense it would make SD and his coaching team cringe. Real kindergarten coaching with no insight or understanding whatsoever.

Maybe if posters didn't post misleading titles , he's hardly been brilliant and nearly gave the ball away under pressure last night when he had no reason to.
Far too casual to make a decent centre back and the reason why we are looking for someone else.

Never going to easy, replacing an England international but he's a good un is Tarkowski of that there is no doubt in my mind.

He's got all the attributes to be a tremendous centre half, but his casual approach may let him down. He takes too long on the ball sometimes and he'll get caught in the PL if he carries on that way. He needs to learn on the job and he needs to learn fast. If he does we'll have a proper player on our hands.

Perhaps people should pay attention to the CONTENT of a title???? Oh, yes...speech marks!!!!! Quoting someone then asking an opinion regards the voracity of the quote. If you consider that misleading, then you have the problem. Unbelievable!

If people are going to have a go about what was mostly a superb captains performance then have a go at the rest of the players. Cork and Westwood gave the ball away cheaply. Bardsley looked lost on the odd occasion. Woods finishing was some what poor.

We can nick pick about everybody's performance all day if we want.

He needs to forget about trying to be Beckenbaur Mk2 with the ball at his feet and play more simple stuff. He'll cost us big time otherwise. He's not as good as he thinks he is.

Keane was great for us, obviously, but in his first season he was also the player involved when we conceded so many over that Christmas period (14/15 season) and was dropped in favour of Duff. A full season in the Championship turned him into the player he became IMO

Tarkowski has the potential to be just as integral, but if the right player can be signed he'll have to show it quickly.

He was error-prone and lacking in confidence at first.

I'm not so sure. SD didn't waste much time before praising Kevin Long last night.

I'm a big fan of Tarka but he does need to speed his thinking up, he got away with it last night but he won't be so lucky against the much faster players that he will be facing in the League.

think he's a great player,but worries the hell out of me also,sometimes seems a little casual when in possession and will get robbed by some of the premier league players..still learning but overall...solid

I'm sure we're looking for at least one more centre half because we only have 3 at present. But I don't think we're chasing hard to find a first choice centre half; a number 3 or even a number 4 centre half might be all we need.

With better finishing/luck, we could have won that 5 or 6-0. We were really that dominant after the first twenty minutes. Radio Lancs commentator said it was like a training game and another somewhere else (forget where now) said it was like an exhibition match for Burnley. So easy it was. Lots of 'Ole's' in the second half as we kept possession for long periods. Lots of football that was pleasing on the eye too.
