Where's recommended? Mum wants bbq spare ribs. Not been to a chinese in Burnley for ages though. Padiham/Rosegrove/Lowerhouse be easiest but happy to go the distance for a good un.

Yi Fong on Allendale street in Rosegrove. If you like ribs then go for their salt and pepper ribs!

They really are very few and far between these days, whichever town it is.

My advice is wherever you order from do it on a day that's not going to be as busy.

A little more care seems to go into it and it's not as bland.

I don't think any Chinese can mess spare ribs up.

All the Chinese in Padiham are good to be fair.

The Golden Dragon on Accy road is my favourite within a mile or so of my house.

A mate of mine swears by the one on Lyndhurst road.
Not sure if they deliver though.

They can and do quite frequently.

I remember the days when it didn't, whatever dish, virtually all taste the same.

There's a tiny one, forget the name, across from Sainsbury's on North Valley Road,
used to be really good. Bit of a trek, but think they deliver.

Something like ho kong, or ho hang. Had it once on way back from crosshills, was very nice to say it was a desperation call.

The Po Sang in Rosehill was always the go to for a Chinese take away.

Recent experiences have been pretty poor.

It's been sh1te as well on few occasions.

Ribs tough and tasteless.

The Chinks in the Nelson area really have let themselves go.

Dobo used to be brill but that was sh1te the last time I went as well.

There is a small one on Lowerhouse lane that has just changed hands. It was very good and large portions.
It's the part of Lowerhouse lane going towards motor point. The take away has just changed its name so I cannot remember it sorry

If we have any Chinese supporters, time to make a killing boys.

Used to go to Jesun. Changed hands, now shite. Then the one behind the rise and crown. Changed hands, now shite. Good Chinese food is very hard to find in take away format round here. Beijing and ivy palace nice to eat in. Resort to ordering from there and pick it up.

Can't remember what it's called now but, the restaurant in padiham which used to be the emperor, is really good to eat in. Decors not the best but the food never lets you down.
For takeaway, there is one in hapton called Happy Dinner. Doesn't look much but, again, the food is surprisingly good.

Another for Yi Fong. It is brilliant. Failing that the one at the top of padiham (not the restaurant) is brilliant also and very reasonably priced too.

Went for Yi Fong.

BBQ Ribs were spot on
Chicken satay skewers good (but served on a bed of pineapple chunks?)
Beef bamboo shoots and water chestnuts was horrible - not bland, actually unpleasant

Mixed bag then.

Cheers everyone for help.

China Express on Leeds Rd Nelson has been very very good for a few years now. The only problem being you have to factor in an hour to get your food sorted. It's well worth the wait though imo

Nothing to do with the ladle of oil they put into every dish?

I'm convinced that's why you get the shits after Chinese/Indian, the pure fat - nothing to do with hygiene or ingredients.

So is the Wok Place any good? Used to use Po Sang all the time, but the new owners are crap. I remember it being heaving most teatimes.
Still haven't had a Chinese takeaway as good as the old Yips Chips on Accy rd.

Summer Palace is the name, they also do take outs.

I go next door to Double dragon for the Special Chow Mein with sauce, amazing dish that can feed 3 people for a fiver.

I also go Double Dragon, the portion sizes are massive, and rarely had a dish even just below par.
If we have guests, they usually leave future double Dragon customers

Only place for a take away curry is premier curries, which will be Saturday's treat tea

Chicken cheese kofta, extra hot with extra coriander
Garlic naan
Chips

Was Yips in the same place as The Golden Dragon on Accy Road?

I was once in there with my dad (Dave) and the owner (Dave) and the chef (Dave), when some bloke rolled in absolutely steaming:

''Ey Dave you gorr any pies''
Dave (owner) produces a pie, streaming man (possibly called Dave also) dives in a huge bite encompassing almost half the pie.
''F*****G HELL DAVE THATS HOT''
Steaming man (Dave) hands pie back to Dave (owner) and departs.

It was a sight to behold

No Yips was on the other side next door to the Star of Asia. I believe the block has been knocked down now.
