Wells is a top end League 2, mid table League One player. Hence Huddersfield barely ever starting him even at Championship level.

Re: Nahki Wells
If we sign Wells to replace Gray, it's time to suspend or overhaul the overseas scouting network.
It simply isn't worthwhile. They are either not finding the players or the current regime doesn't trust the recommendations.
Wells hasn't kicked a ball at Prem level. He hasn't always looked a Championship player, as his 1 in every 4 or 5 game league record for Huddersfield suggests.
He's also currently recovering from an ankle operation.

Re: Nahki Wells
I think we should have learned our lesson regarding players who aren't perhaps first choice in their current teams. Arfield was out of favour at Huddersfield when we signed him - he has proven to be an excellent player for us, if a little limited at Premier League level.
However, I too feel we should be aiming higher than players like Nakhi Wells. I want to see us bring in players who are actually improving the team - not convinced he would do that. He's proven himself capable of scoring goals at League 1 and Championship level but he has never been prolific.

Re: Nahki Wells
I'd be astounded if it's Wells. Newcastle are allegedly open to offers for Dwight Gayle, I would have thought he would be a realistic option for us if fhe suggestion is correct that we are shying away from the foreign market. Somebody posted Gayle's PL minutes/goals stats and they were ok.
Shane Long is a possible Thursday at 10 pm option if all else fails.

I don't understand that. He's made 143 appearances for them in the Championship, scoring 44 goals - he's obviously played a fair bit for them. Still wouldn't be particularly enthusiastic about him though.Walton wrote:Wells is a top end League 2, mid table League One player. Gayle yes. Wells a very big no. When he was at Bradford and we weren't where are now I wanted us to take a punt. But definitely not now. We can do much better.

Re: Nahki Wells
If we sign Wells i will be massively underwhelmed. Certainly not a signing of intent and he is certainly not of similar standard to Gray. Huddersfield fans will be laughing if we pay anything daft for him. Like one poster has already said you would seriously have to question the use of a foreign scouting policy.

Re: Nahki Wells
We should stay well away from Wells, he simply isn't good enough. Wells for around 6/7 million, or £10m for Gayle?
If it is between the two then it has to be Gayle, no questions asked. Also keep Ashley!!

The kind of signing we would've made 3 summers ago. Surely not this time.

Very odd given he's injured.
Re: Nahki Wells
Very odd given he's a mediocre player.
It'll say little for broadening our scouting in Europe, if this is the signing to solve our striker / winger shortage.
I'd hoped, with the more recent links, that we would be bringing in a player or two from abroad, offering better value and potential.
Time yet, of course, though these sort of links set alarm bells ringing a little. I know we've plenty cash now, but not plenty enough to be wasteful.

I'd be very disappointed in Wells. A Huddersfield mate doesn't rate him, but they didn't rate Arfield.
Still, maybe only a rumour.

What a complete drama queen.
If we sign Wells then it won't cost you a penny so just chill and have faith in the people at the club who have brought us this far.

I think Vegas is just overstating the case. That's all. With the names that we have been interested in, he has every right to be disappointed if we sign Wells.

Think you need to chill Marlon, I'm very well aware of and have faith in the people that run the club BUT if we sign Nakhi ******* Wells then I would absolutely begin to question the managers sanity, the boards sanity and also the value of our improved scouting network. I hope we don't sign him.

It's not moaning, it's opinion and it's the bickering 'please stay in Vegas' type comments in response that end up with tit for tat arguments. How about just expressing opposite opinions without the snide remarks?
This forum would be far better without the arguments.
