Without the benefit of hindsight you were happy with the signings of a recently relegated and conceded 80 goal Heaton and free transfer, done nothing Scott Arfield?
Righto then.

This is the type of signing the likes of Barnsley are trying to make (maybe THAT's the mistake).
I reckon Nixon is dead wrong here and being fed a pack of lies. We have shown ourselves to be ambitious, so ask yourself why on Earth we would sign the Bermudan Ian Moore (he literally is).
No chance, none.
I 100% don't think Wells is good enough, but bloody hell, that's a harsh comparison!

Wells is gash, lower end championship player. Rather we save the money instead of spending it on dross.

Huddersfield want rid of Wells so I wouldn't be surprised if they are leaking fake news to people like Nixon to try and drum up some interest
Equally it could be Wells agent leaking the fake news to try and get him a better deal at a championship club

Wells has messed Hudds about a bit. Refused to sign a new contract before last season, then when it looked like promotion could be on the cards he was asking for a new contract, and Hoyle said pi55 off
That's the rumour I have heard from Hudds family members

His record at Huddersfield is 48 goals in 152 apps. When you consider Huddersfield were in a Championship relegation scrap every season until last year I'd say 1 goal every 3 games isn't too bad.
As a comparison, Ashley Barnes has also had 5 or 6 seasons in the Championship between us and Brighton. His entire record in Championship seasons reads 32 goals in 142 apps.
So if we purely take those stats Barnes is a 1 in 4.5 games striker and Wells is a 1 in 3.2 games.
Don't let stats get in the way of your opinions though. Clearly Dyche hasn't got a clue, I mean his transfer record is appalling.

People who know what they are talking about are suggesting that there is not a lot in this.
I haven't a clue either way, but people are getting either far too annoyed or far too excited about someone who would be cover for the cover.

Righto then.
Everyone who had done their homework on Heaton knew he was a great goalkeeper playing behind a terrible defence. I'd been told Arfield was an incredibly fit, hardworking player being played out of position.

But i think youve made the counter argument right there Lancaster. He'd be cover for the cover. He'd be another signing this summer who doesn't improve the first eleven. You can make an argument that only Cork if our signings would have made last year's team.
What we are crying out for is a really good forward come winger with pace who can slot into our right wing im a 451 and really improve the first eleven. As you yourself say, there is no reason to believe Wells is that class and that is why if he's the best we end up with to close the window, he'll be a massive disappointment.

With the money we have available surely we can do better than Wells. Can't even make the Huddersfield team and has an ankle injury. Surely we aren't that desperate.

Don't have a problem with Wells, once Sean has one his magic on him. I would prefer someone like Wells rather than gambling on an overseas player from some obscure place like Bermuda as long as Barnes stays.

The market may be daft, but in what world does an injured, 10-goal Championship striker with only a year on his contract go for £10m?
Gray, a younger, 20+ goal Chanpionship/10-goal Prem goal striker, would be a bargain at £18m in comparison.

I suspect the £10m includes any add ons etc... I'd be amazed if we paid more than £6m up front.

Let me cast your minds back 3 weeks ago
How many on here critised the Wood signing
Now he's a hero
Give Sean Dyche some credit
He is a natural goal scorer
And with Wood with him will make a very good partnership

Anything over 3 mill is a complete rip off. Squad player at best and an injured one at that.

If SD wants him then fair enough I trust his judgement of a player over anyones on here.
But 10mil for a injured player who ony scored 10 goals in the championship last season is extracting the urine.
Would rather keep Barnes or have paid 18 mil if thats what Newcastle want for Dwight Gayle
