If we continue with 4-5-1, then he'll be an impact sub. Would he accept that?

27 years old. Untested at Prem level. Never set the Championship alight. Has a persistent ankle problem that will require surgery.
Sounds ideal.

Re: Nahki Wells
I think a lot of his style is down to confidence and form. Think back to 80% not wanting Chris Wood to join us.
I think he could do a job for us, but... and this is a big but - I'm not convinced he has the attitude to work under Dyche.

Which is what I just did. Here are the replies:Inchy wrote:He's crap. Ask any Hudds fans. They would be happy to see him go
I personally don't want him to go. I think he'll be superb in PL
You will find mixed views with town fans, some rate him some don't. He may suit your style because he likes playing with a big man up top.
If he's half the player he was for us at Bradford he'll do a job for you.
Re: Nahki Wells
Heard he had a small operation few weeks ago nothing serious
We need pace .... has he got that ?

Because of our own refusal to pay £10m for a player? I don't think this is a case of us being priced out...FactualFrank wrote:I bet they were. But I also think our targets have had to be lowered.

If it does turn out to be wells were scraping the barrel a bit . I think if were going down that route then surely waris would of been the better option . Can play in multiple positons ,quicker and also a couple of years younger

We won't have lowered our target.
There are many reasons why transfer deadline day is the busiest day of the whole transfer window.

We seem to be linked with Wells every transfer window. Either Dyche genuinely has an interest in him or his agent is a massive Burnley fan.

I have been very happy with the signings so far but it will be very disappointing if we sign Wells. I would have been unhappy if we'd have signed him in the championship let alone the prem. I'm still optimistic that we will bring in two quality additions though and believe (hope) this is just an old link resurfacing.

**** no! No! No! No!
How much will he be? 5 or 6 million? Put money into someone who might actually a) improve on what we've got, b) return a profit.
Wells is good at league 1 level.

On the whole I have had a good day.Reecey1987 wrote:Hope you have had a good day
It started off poorly when I dropped washing powder all over the kitchen floor.
But then after that I had sardines on toast which calmed me down no end.
When Wood put the ball in the net I didn't have a care in the world, other than gin.
Burnley Football Club have a lot to answer for when it comes to alcoholism.
I forgive them though.

That's your first mistake - attempting to wash clothes. Especially with gin!Bin Ont Turf wrote:On the whole I have had a good day.

Re: Nahki Wells
Wells is a no for me , doesn't have the quality required.
Musa- was pretty poor against Sheffield united the other night, not seen too much of him to be honest, but when I have watched him he's been very average.
Deadline Day loan for Danny Ings wouldn't shock me at all.
Jota would be a completely different option, not sure he has that pace we are looking for, but he is a very clever player.
Andone and Waris gone cold perhaps?
Interesting week ahead regarding transfer activity for us, we definitely require another striker/wide forward with some speed and a centre half, possibly another central midfielder seen as we are using 3 in the middle.

Re: Nahki Wells
If there's a suggestion it is a pne player, then we were linked with Callum Robinson a few weeks ago. Pacey, direct, decent technically. Could do worse i think.
Unconvinced by Wells.
Unconvinced by Wells.
Re: Nahki Wells
Undeniably Nahki is a talented guy . Unfortunately bfc don't have the slack nor money to take a chance on an untesteded championship goal scorer ... oh sorry ..did We just spend 15 million on wood, who if we stop up by 1 point would pay the transfer fee back many times over ? # not betting the ranch to let the horses run in the near future .
Re: Nahki Wells
I'll be incredibly disappointed if we sign Wells.
Nowhere near good enough. Can't make Huddersfields 11 in the Prem.

Re: Nahki Wells
The thing is, we don't NEED a striker. If we play 4-5-1, we have pace with Wood and we have strength... we have it covered. Wood + Vokes can score goals. Don't worry.
Re: Nahki Wells
I agree it's not the most inspiring signing ... but a goal scorer keeps u up . All the talk of mid table is a bit excited before we have a centre back to add comp to tarks in my mind .
Re: Nahki Wells
I think Wells could work as third/fourth choice striker

Re: Nahki Wells
I'd go along with that. He'd be a nice signing, but not mandatory. It would be ok as a last minute signing to be, like you say, a 3rd/4th choice.Blyclaret wrote:I think Wells could work as third/fourth choice striker

Re: Nahki Wells
I think Dyche has his first and second choices with Vokes and Wood
Also has Walters who can play up front and Barnes to rough them up
But needs a smaller more mobile striker
Whether Wells fits that bill remains to be seen

I think he's looking for a number 9. A natural quick, pacey, pain in the backside type player - I guess like Gray, really. But if not, Wood will do the job we need.
Re: Nahki Wells
Dwight Gayle in swap deal with Barnes.
Re: Nahki Wells
Is there any link at all with Wells or are we all debating a signing that doesn't look like happening.
