Barnes Value?
Barnes is apparently interesting Wolves.
Taking into account the money that's going about at the moment, how much is he worth?

Re: Barnes Value?
to us a hell of a lot more than we will ever get - as we saw at the weekend, defences in this league hate playing him, he disrupts and distracts them and never, never gives up or backs down. He might not get a lot of goals but he creates space for others to get/take opportunities and has the nous of both the Premier League and what we require of him and will not be distracted from his task, at his age and fitness he easily has 4 more years for us.

I value him enough to not sell him.
He's needed to do what he does, even if it's off the bench.

I will add that I still can't believe Austria haven't called him up to a squad just to have a look at what he can add to them - it's not like they qualify for everything is it

He is worth what he would cost to replace at this stage.

Nixon just tweeted we would sell him for £10m and there's a few interested. I'd personally snap hands off for £10m, he seems quite surprised though.

Wood, Vokes, Barnes, Walters is adequate in terms of numbers. Wood, Vokes, Walters is definitely not adequate. Unless we already have firm plans and an agreed fee to sign someone else, there's absolutely no point selling.

Re: Barnes Value?
If we have to sell Barnes to make way for Dwight Gayle, Nahki Wells or this Waris chap then forget them. We're fine as we are up front, and Barnes has bullied plenty of Premier League centre backs to show he can still have a huge role for us this season.
Please lets not spoil a great transfer window with silliness here.

Re: Barnes Value?
He's worth far more than 3-4mil in my opinion, based on the ridiculous transfer fees that go about these days. He's only 27, he plays in the Premier League and has scored goals (albeit he's far from prolific). He's a very useful player to have and I think he could easily for for 7-8mil, maybe more.

Agyei is satisfactory or acceptable in quality or quantity.
Re: Barnes Value?
Value to us is different to the value other clubs will have on him. Id guess others will value him at around £4M but I don't think we'll sell at that price.

Re: Barnes Value?
DSR all of those guys bring something slightly different to the table,
Wood we are still learning about but looks like he is intelligent, slightly quicker than we thought and can definitely break the defensive line and knows where the goal is
Vokes is our hold-up link attacker and point-man, great with his head and good at developing partnerships
Barnes is unique in what he does and for us, when we are looking to nick points off the top teams and get back into games Barnes is the one that puts defences and defensive midfielders off their stride
Walters is flexible in position and has an intelligent head on him when we need to see games out
we could manage with all 4 (especially in the 4-5-1) add pace/guile out wide and we could be potent

If Sone Aluko is going to Reading for £7.5m then I'd expect at least that for Barnes!! Aluko was a free transfer for Fulham last summer. The football world has gone mad this year, it really has!!

Re: Barnes Value?
Considering such footballing shite as Ross McCormack, Jonathon Kodija, Assombolonga and Jordan Rhodes have all been sold for more than £10 million each despite no PL goals between them, I would suggest that £10 million is cheap in today's market.

Re: Barnes Value?
Why should we sell him. We need 4 strikers we are still. 1 short
Re: Barnes Value?
It might not be a case of ourselves wanting to sell him but him wanting regular football if he indeed does go.
I cannot see him starting a game this year and surely at his stage of his career, Barnes won't want to be settling for life on the bench.

The only source for this is a HITC article based entirely on Skybet's markets.halfmanhalfbiscuit wrote:Barnes is apparently interesting Wolves.
He's 8/1 to join Wolves. That's really, really long odds.
HITC exist purely to get clicks into their website so they can sell more advertising space. They've chosen a reasonably well supported club whose fans they want to tempt in this time.
If it's from HITC, ignore it.

Re: Barnes Value?
How do people rate Barnes on here ?
For me he is one of the few players that I wouldn't be overly sad to see leave. Yes, he roughs up defenders and the fans like to see his passion and he has scored some vital goals.
However, for me, he certainly does not score enough goals and his persistent failures at winning a free-kick frustrate me. Is he not the sort of player we are looking to improve on ? The same would have to be said for Marney (although I love Marney) and ultimately Arfield and what we did with Boyd ?

A quick look and you can see that.
Plus the thread is more about the current perceived value of the player in a rapidly inflating market.
Re: Barnes Value?
I think around the 7-8m mark for Barnes but I don't think
Dyche would wish to let him go unless he felt he had a better option
coming in.

Re: Barnes Value?
I personally cannot believe that we are even considering selling him. He's a settled member of the squad and has a lot more to his game than many people give him credit for. He's a battler for sure and ruffles feathers but you only have to look at the goal he scored at Anfield last season and the goal against Wigan in our promotion season to see that he is a very good finisher given the right service. How much is he worth? Nothing less than 15 million IMHO.

Big admirer of Barnes. He has more to his game than just roughing up opposition defenders, but he is very good at that. He's more intelligent a footballer than people give him credit for.ClaretAndBlue94 wrote:How do people rate Barnes on here ?

His introduction at Wembley on Sunday, along with Westwood and Wood was key to us getting a point. Players just do not like playing against him. If we were to bring in another striker it'd probably be at his expense, but the new striker would need to be offering something we don't have. I.E. A quick footed player who can draw a foul in different ways or hit the onion bag more frequently.
Re: Barnes Value?
I hope this isn't relevant as I want to keep him. He certainly made a difference at Wembley.
Did you notice in the footage of the players applauding the fans at the end. Barnes was the only one who didn't and wandered down the tunnel whilst all his team mates were in front of the Claret fans?
