How bad has this season been so far?

There are loads of posts on this board tonight that make it clear that the consensus is that it's been a rotten season. OK, there have been occasional bright moments like a new record signing in Wood, the excellent Jack Cork in midfield, the much improved form of Defour and Brady, and the win at Chelsea and the draw at Tottenham.
But against all that, you have to agree that we are rumoured to be signing Nahki Wells and that we have already signed some reserve players. So the question is, where does the season so far fit on the scale of disastrous BFC seasons? Is it as bad as Chris Waddle's season, for example? As bad as the Casper years? As bad a Brian Laws? Or even as bad as the 1986-87 Orient Game season?
Or is there anyone else (apart from me) that thinks it's actually been a good season so far?

Been a great start so far with three good performance and two excellent results. Think people are just rightly concerned that we may be a player short if we don't recruit a centre half. Not sure what's wrong with that.

Four points away to the two teams who finished in the top two last season. I'd class that as a strong start. Baggies are our bogey side so I reckon we're a point ahead of the minimum I expected.

Agree , but no one is allowed to question anything according to some posters .

So far so good. Feel more optimistic than this time last season. Better/stronger squad arguably ? Plenty of twists and turns to come !

I think its safe to say that the vast majority are only worried about not having enough cover at CB.

We'd have won all three league games and put five past Rovers if we had a pacey winger. Disaster!!!!

What a strange post, the season is 3 games in, its a good start, that's all lets not get carried away. We have 3 cbs and 3 wingers, we can ALWAYS improve and I don't see a problem with fans wanting to improve. What do we need 5 strikers for? We have only been using 1 at a time. Surely a winger and a central defender should've been the priority not a striker who is no better than at least 3 we have. The signing is just strange, why do we need a 5th choice striker? Is that not why we signed Walters?

We won at Chelsea, we drew at Tottenham. Let's at least get a little bit carried away. Come on, if you can't get excited about those two results, when do you get excited?

When we survive relegation, what difference does it make where you get the points? I'm not bothered if we beat Chelsea or Brighton, so long as we survive. 3pts is 3pts. Infact a win against Brighton is more beneficial.

Beating Chelsea raises more eyebrows than beating Brighton.

Survival is so last season.
Minimum expectation should be mid table.

After the news broke about Wells I tried to tear my season ticket up but because it's made out of plastic it just bent a little bit. So I'll probably go to the next game just because I might as well.

The season has been good so far and I want that to continue. I'm confident about our chances but that will quickly change if Brady or one of our centre backs pick up an injury. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

I was at Wembley, and it was exciting. There weren't many of your brand of "ho hum, just another point" dancing up and down when Wood scored. That's what football's about, isn't it?

If it doesn't make any difference where you get the points why did you spend most of last season banging on about the away form not being good enough?

Awful, we're below Huddersfield and they've just sold us one of their rejects.

In our first three games in the 2009-10 season we had beaten Man United and Everton, everyone was happy but it didn't mean that much in the context of the whole season.
It is possible to be happy with the current results but also aware that we're one injury away from Kevin Long being the first choice centre half for 4 months.

Great OP with one exception, and that's the suggestion that Frank Casper's reign was among the worst in BFC's history. With a budget that was two thirds of f-all, he made steady progress following on from Brian Miller, eventually getting us to the 1991 play-offs. Admittedly, the start to the 1991-92 season was shambolic but it was his squad, his team and his backroom team that Jimmy Mullen steered to the Fourth Division title.

The impression that the OP has is a good indication of why message boards give a distorted picture of the views of Burnley supporters in general. In reality it is about 10 or 15 people who post consistently in a negative fashion but they tend to overtake every thread because they appear to have nothing else to do with their lives. So it begins to dominate the board. But remember that the majority of Burnley fans don't even look at the board, never mind post on it and it puts things in perspective. In fact, I know lots of fans who deliberately avoid reading the board because some of the trolls and negative nonsense winds them up to much.
So, put it in perspective it's about 15 people out of the thousands who support the club. I wish people would just ignore their posts and not get drawn into continued debate. They would soon get bored and go elsewhere. It certainly ruins the enjoyment of this board in one of the most successful periods in the club's history.

Why could this thread not have been "How good has this season been so far?"
Each season has numerous negative threads.....until we finally get promoted or manage to stay in the PL, then said posters are finally positive. Maybe it reflects on how their own glass almost empty lives are.

I seriously don't know what some people expect,we have beaten the champions on their home patch, drawn at last season's runner's up, and cruised past Rovers in the cup,yes the WBA result was disappointing, but WBA will give most sides a game in this league, and they are our bogey team it happens,we are not yet an established Premier League side, so still can't attract a certain calibre of player, added to our sensible policy on salaries, look at the situation Crystal Palace,West Ham and Bournemouth are in, and ask yourself would you swap places,i wouldn't.

Who'd have thunk it? Three games in and our away record is already better than we achieved all the way into into March last season.

Shocking, if you can't beat West Brom you may as well jack it all in.

We have had a solid start better than we all thought but theirs nowt wrong in wanting it to progress soon as we lose 3 on the trot the transfer window debate will open again
And worse still if a couple of our center back get a bad injury after losing three games on the bounce what then gamble and twist
Order of the day build up your stock before the famine
