Reports all over social media this place is closing down.

Never been in myself but lots of friends all seem to go there.

Will be a shame for the canal walkers no doubt.

Even on the brightest day, it's so dark in there. It's not a nice place.

I once went in for a drink at Christmas a couple of years back. I thought I was going to be a fairly decent place (never been in prior)

No rum
No Martini Rosso
None of the wines my wife wanted
No decent beer on.

All in all a very poor do.

This place had all the hallmarks of being somewhere that I would like and should be a success.

I have only been once and it was dark on the inside but fortunately it was a lovely day and sat outside the whole time and they did have the bottle of wine I wanted.

It'll be a shame if it closes. It was always our meeting point for a night in town (20 years ago). Took several girlfriends there, back in the day, ideal for a quiet sit down drink and chat. I was in there about 3 years ago with the current missus and noticed things hadn't really changed - it was looking a bit run down tbh.

Its a good location - hopefully somebody will take it on.

Always smells of bleach. We met in there last week before the Blackburn game and it does look very tired.

It certainly needs a bit of investment but it could be a roaring success, especially on matchdays where there is a good away following on the train. Shame if it could be closing down.

It certainly needed a makeover. As my bro says ' no such thing as a bad pub - just bad owners, managers, tenants, landlords'.

We went in there before a match one game last season to get a drink and something to eat and were told that the wait for food was upwards of two hours.

Think you hit the nail on the head there Hampstead. Rumour is the landlord owns another bar in Merseyside and owes money to some unsavoury characters and has been trying to get rid of the pub for ages.

Always sit out on the tow path cos it can be a bit dark inside, and it's been dear for a bad pint for a while now, but it's a nice old listed building and pretty iconic. Put some good beer behind the bar and you'd think someone would be able to make a do of it, decent location edge of town, could be like a second Bridge.

With a bit of money spending it would make a great Micro brewery.Come on Bowland Brewery or Moorhouses get looking into the possibilities its in a great position.

Well perhaps they are tempo..perhaps I should have said something along the lines of what Bowland Brewery have done in Clitheroe.

Far too expensive prices for what is a fairly middle of the road Burnley pub.

Lovely to sit out by the canal though.

Would be prime wetherspoon territory if it wasn't so close to an existing one

According the pub's website you can still book a Christmas Meal for 2015. If they put as much effort into the running of the pub as they did the website, I'm hardly surprised it's dying on its arse.

For microbreweries you generally want a not prime site based on the theory that the space that the brewery is taking up is space that the punters can't use and so you don't want to be paying too much per square foot in rent as if you were just running a brewery it would be off in an industrial park somewhere.

Interested to know if the Inn does close down where the Police will herd the more unruly visiting fans too.They usually round them up from different trains then March them to the Turf doubt they'll be happy with big groups roaming the town centre.

tbh wasnt that club xs kept in working order purely for away fans in a previous season?

Never had a really decent well kept beer in there, best has been just ok.

Went there once for a pre match lunch, worst meal I have ever had and I even complained, something I rarely do.Not been back since but a great location for a decent pub/restaurant.

several girlfriends and the current wife.....if you have another one lined up there's always the big window.

Last time I was I was about 4 years ago, I saw its location and it looked really nice outside, but inside it was very average with nothing going for it. I wouldn't make an effort to go back

Called in one lunch time en route to the station, as the Ministry was shut. Tried 3 different beers. Couldn't drink any of them. All 3 of us took them back. Maybe that's one of the reasons it didn't survive. Pity. Great location.

Used it from 2008 to 2013 as pre match pub usually having a meal. used to leave the car there. When Hansons (from Nottingham) had it the standard of beer was ok and the food was acceptable pub grub. But it slowly declined hence the move away.

Would be perfect for a good curry house. Pub culture is a dying pastime so let them shut and stick something useful in their place

No it doesn't make sense,it's an excellent location for a pub.It'll be another loss for Burnley on an outstanding stretch of the canal that gives people who use it an opportunity to relax for a while.Once it goes to flats it gone forever and another part of Burnley is lost to the public.

Should stay as a pub!
With Burnleys heritage being based around the canal the town should have at least one decent watering hole on the canal side.
The building is in a great location and it's a shame the current owner has let it go downhill.
It desperately needs a refurb and it's a damn shame if it is turned into apartments.

I'm sure that there will be some pub company who will be interested in the place.

Well this Claret will be there around 3.30pm tomorrow afternoon to cheer on Elizabeth...hopefully the missus will be with!!

There's plenty of development going on in and around the town these days and lots of new housing going up to match it

Jump off the x43 one Saturday night this summer and was greated by tramps and beggars in every other door way. But for the mentioned people the town was deserted and this was 8pm Saturday night. Half of the town is boarded up and looks third world. Sorry the town is a bloody mess and eye sore.
My wife who accompanied me said she could not believe how run down the place was. We live 7 miles from Burnley but only visit the town for the football. Bury puts, Burnley to shame. It's like comparing Paris to Peckham

I was reading something recently that was basically saying that the people who once went out in Burnley are now choosing to go out in Colne

Drove through Colne last week and was well impressed. Looks to be plenty of bars, nice cafes and restaurants. There are also plenty of nice independent shops.

I always stick up for Burnley when I am out and about but not the town centre. Burnley is surrounded by some of the finest countryside in England and really is a hidden gem

It might have helped if one refrained from taking pecuniary incentives from Tesco.
