A reminder of how far we've come. I watched my first game in 1987. Oghani was my first Burnley hero.

Obviously we don't know what actually happened, but to be fair to Oghani I reckon Pearce would become a very punchable chap if you had to spend 5/6 days a week with him. :)

Sadly, seeing I was up for a full day's teaching the next day, I was in bed early, having no idea of the result. On the way to work in Neasden, I pulled up in my car and popped into a newsagent for a paper. I spent about fifteen seconds dancing in delight on the pavement outside. I so wish I'd been there.

I think he was playing for the Vintage Clarets until the incident a couple of years ago when he headbutted the assistant referee at an amateur football match.

I don't know Chris Pearce personally so can't comment on that, but from what I have seen he always came across as a decent bloke. I do however know what happened between Oghani and Pearce. I played cricket with one of the apprentices at the time who was at the training ground when it happened.

We played Scarborough a couple of seasons after and Oghani had a one on one with Pearce. Pearce was outside the box and got to the ball first. Now there was his chance to clear the ball, follow through and clatter Oghani. He bottled it and tamely hit the ball into Oghani who went round him and scored. Too much of a nice guy i felt.

I think "Hit him on the head with an ironing board, oooh Robbie Brady" may lead to some confusion with him. He'll need to acquire one now and commit said assault for it to become official.

Those would be the days when ashen-faced Ron Knee,59 was in charge of the local team, Quicknick and Pevsner had a terrible habit of scoring own goals.

I'll second that. It was only eleven months between the Orient Game and the win at Deepdale. What a turnaround. There were more people in the away end that night than we averaged at the Turf the season before. And the atmosphere was simply incredible. Deep down, I don't think anyone expected us to win but to demolish PNE on their own patch (plastic pitch too) was beyond words. My dad found my Wembley t-shirt recently too.

I've still got my replica shirt from that season, bought at Uwe Noble's once we'd got to Wembley. Sadly it seems to have shrunk, it certainly doesn't fit now.

I remember Oghani scoring a sensational disallowed goal after dancing around the entire Luton Town defence (old div 1 side back then) in a cup tie at Turf Moor then and sliding the ball home for what we all thought was an astonishing equaliser.. But the ref pulled the game back for a foul on halfway. It was clear though that Oghani and the Luton goalkeeper and defenders trying to stop him hadn't heard the whistle. I seem to remember a lot of the Longside not even realising it had been disallowed for quite a while amidst the euphoria.

We often sing his, Graham Brnch and Jimmy Mullens names on away days. Much to the confusion of everyone around us including most younger clarets.

Jimmy Mullens claret and blue army all the way to hull in 2015 was of derby proportions. Even ended up posted online by some mirror reporter who was on the train. We must have especially been inebriated though as he was trying to find out who the fk jimmy muldoon was!
