Eire or Wales or neither

Post by andyh » Wed Sep 06, 2017 11:33 am

Purley selfishly I want neither to qualify. A summer off for our players outweighs the extra interest in the World Cup.

Eire - how long is it since I saw that name used?

It can't happen but I'd have liked to see both qualify. The more Burnley players in the World Cup, the better I think.

Steven Defour already there.

I don't think Either will make it.
Think both will draw final two games (including when they play each other)

Meaning Wales finishing 2nd but not making the play offs.

Probably right. Only 8 out of 9 second place teams will qualify for play offs and results against the sixth placed team in each group are wiped off the record for this purpose.

Wales are currently in ninth place, just one goal behind Bosnia and two points and two goals behind Sweden and Montenegro

I think both countries could miss out but just pray we are still within a chance of the play offs when we go to Cardiff . Everything booked just need a ticket off the FAI .

I agree- makes watching 'neutral' matches more interesting.

Definitely not neither, but I'd definitely prefer Ireland to make it

If I had to choose one it would be Ireland given that they have more Burnley players than Wales and the Wales approach in Dublin, when Seamus Coleman suffered the horrific injury, was not good.

... poor stuff last night but not unexpected in truth ... I think Bale gives Wales an obvious advantage but I could see both sides missing out

Ireland, because their fans aren't insufferable.

If we're calling Ireland Eire, shouldn't we be calling Wales Cymru?
