Up to 10 weeks out if that's the case.

it takes about 12 to 16 weeks to completely recover from a dislocated shoulder.

Arse.
But Pope looked good today.

Clearly if it did pop out it popped back pretty quickly, I'd expect him back in about a month. Trust me that was not a face of someone whose shoulder was still out.

Hard to say. Austin would normally have been 6/7 weeks but he was often prone to it

Real shame that. He'll be missed. But great chance for Pope.

You'd better tell him that he's definitely dislocated it then. He's making himself look a bit daft.

Tom Heaton, it looks like a dislocated shoulder and if that is the case we are looking at months, not weeks."

You can stop wearing the sling after a few days,
but it takes about 12 to 16 weeks to completely recover from a dislocated shoulder. You'll usually be able to resume most activities within two weeks, but should avoid heavy lifting and sports involving shoulder movements for between six weeks and three months,
the time length is dictated by the level of ligament damage

Dyches probably just shoved it back in when they got back to the dressing room.

A sickener seeing our Tom go off like that.
Great save by Pope though.

Gives Pope a chance to make the first choice spot his own then.
Hopefully he grabs it and puts in more good performances.

Depends on the type of dislocation
There are 3 types
Most common is Anterior which is when humorous goes forward
Posterior is when it goes back
Inferior is going down, and the rarest
Also depends on if any ligament damage has occurred
Speaking of personal experience of posteria dislocation, surgery wasn't required and was off work for a week but I was doing rehab & couldn't do any lifting/exercise for about 10wks

Recovery time depends on the damage. Dislocation inevitably damages the rotator cuff which is why some people are prone to recurrent dislocation. They will need to assess the extent of any damage before giving an estimate of the recovery time. Could be 6 weeks, may be 6 months if he has avulsed his supraspinatus tendon Likely to be somewhere between the two.

I hope his absence won't cost us any/too many points and it's not the difference between staying up / going down. Hope Pope is up to it.

How bad an injury is this for a keeper? As in long term after hes recovered? Will it be something that will hinder him and could it resurface?

Speaking from unfortunate personal experience, the actual dislocation is the least of the problems and is likely to keep him out indeed for maybe 12 weeks. The real problem is if he tore his labrum when he dislocated it, this causes shoulder instability which would be a major issue for a goalkeeper.
If he has torn the labrum (or any other number of parts inside the shoulder than the recovery after surgery for that takes a lot longer. I've had both shoulders operated and it took about 8-9 months before I could e.g. play squash again - granted as a pro sportman they probably have tricks to reduce that somewhat...
Hope it is just a dislocation without major internal damage...

Hard luck for Heaton, but on a positive note it's a great opportunity for Pope to gain some Premier League experience. I thought he looked nervous at first today, which is not surprising, but made an excellent save which gave us an extra two points. Hopefully, that will have given him confidence.

The club need to be scouring all the keepers out of contract tonight. Firstly as cover in case Pope is injured and secondly in case Pope proves not good enough, though I thought the lad did well. Bit different when you are away to Liverpool or Man City-our next two away games.

Really disappointed for Tom. Hope he recovers as quickly as poss, and that Pope can fill his boots (was going to say grow into the role, but he's plenty tall enough!). Did anyone take over as captain today? Was trying to spot the armband at the end of the 1st half and couldn't, but then forgot in 2nd half. Where's Joey B when you need him?

Bryan Robson dislocated his at least 3 times I recall. Tbh Heaton would have been better off breaking a limb. Bloody bad news for someone who spends his time chucking himself on the deck.
