The best centre half iv seen play for us, forget John Mcgreal and a teenage Cahill.
If he was 6ft 2 with good distribution he would be at the very top.

He has far, far exceeded my expectations, given his height at centre back. Immense.

Different type of player but I loved Dobson - Mee is a modern icon for the club though

Oh, I dunno, Waldron and Thomson were good but, yes, in modern times, Mee's an excellent shout.

I'm sure someone will remind me whom they were, but there was at least one poster on here, during the Summer, who described Mee as a liability!

If Vokes was 2 yards quicker and a bit better finisher....
If Brady had a right foot.....

So we have to chop 2" off his height?
He has started for Burnley waaaaaaay better than a certain michael Keane did. Keane was far from convincing. Tarka has been bob on. Wether he ends up as good as Keane is open to debate, but he has been excellent so far.

To say Ben Mee would be good enough to play for a top CL club if he was a couple of inches taller and had better distribution is a compliment. A very positive comment, some will try and pretend like its a negative though.

Not sure what you mean by "He has STARTED for Burnley way better than Keane"
That wasn't Mee's first game for us, he's been here for 5 years?
What do you mean by "so we have to chop 2" off his height"? I said if he was 6ft 2" tall, Mee isn't 6ft 4" tall.

Not trying to pretend it's negative at all, just s bit pointless.
My point was that you could pick smy player in our squad and say if certain aspects of their game were better, they would probably be playing for bigger teams.

Thank god Mick Duff had that shocker at Hull.. The move to CH and Stephen Ward coming in at LB is absolutely the best improvement we could have had in our defence.
More than his playing ability it's his leadership and organisation that standout.
Can we keep him will be the question next Summer.

For my money Tarkowski's been better than him so far this season, while Keane was orders of magnitude better than him last season. But Mee once stopped a shot with his face, so...
And he isn't 6"2, and his distribution is dicey at best.

Keane moved for a bigger fee than Mee would because Keane is younger, a tad quicker, taller and has better distribution. Defensively Mee is on a different planet to Keane and carried him, fans just didn't realise it until Keane left.

Agree with post 3. I always thought that if Dobson had stayed at centre back he could have become the long term successor to Bobby Moore in the England team

We need a Ben Mee song; he deserves one, been a huge player in our progress.
I've been thinking along the lines of BLUE MOON, city song seeing as he came from there but with BEN MEE as the opening line.
Just need some ideas for the rest.
BEN MEE
we saw you standing alone
without a club or a home
But now you're one of our own.
Not the best idea so open to suggestions but I thought of something like this.

You've a short memory. Don't you remember the "Hi ho, it's off to work we go" tune to his name that used to be sung?

Reads the game better than most players and spots danger very quick. His distribution is up and down some times he plays some great balls but sometimes it isn't up to much. I agree he may have made Keane look good but that's what a good defensive unit does.

If I had a lot more pace, a left foot I could use, was 30 odd years younger and didn't drink so much, I'd be able to get in any Sunday League team in the Burnley and Pendle area.

Me too but make that 40 years younger, oh and I would need to move 120 miles closer.

Instead in midfield he became the most expensive signing ever. Not for long I know but a record at the time
Dobro was immense in any position ! Centre back, sweeper and midfield!
