Haha, they seem to "have a go" with kids though and intimidate women which makes me think "bellend"Healeywoodclaret wrote:Ha ha reminds me of that chant years ago "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!" How times have changed!

I wish someone would take over the Tesco escalator, the ******* thing has been out of action for about two months.4:20 wrote:They'll be telling tales of how they took over the Tesco escalator, conquered the Superbowl 2000 car park and ignored the little red man at the pedestrian crossing for years to come.

Really? I don't believe that!COYC73 wrote:When are they going to realise that Burnley haven't got a hard crew anymore looking to fight them.....those days in Burnley are long gone!!! They can bring all the hard boys they want..... but Burnley fans of today's era will just run for the hills!
It's been a while since I had the pleasure of travelling on it, sad to hear it's seen better days. Spent many a minute crawling up the thing, gazing toward Pendle, thinking about food or how much bother I'd be in if I forgot something. One of the pleasures of Burnley that machine.Goody1975 wrote:I wish someone would take over the Tesco escalator, the ******* thing has been out of action for about two months.
It's the one on the way out, shopping there has turned into a version of Father Ted.4:20 wrote:It's been a while since I had the pleasure of travelling on it, sad to hear it's seen better days. We used to go out and fight week in and week out for fun, but now you're looking at 5 years inside for even attempting to have a go....everybody grew up and grew out of it! And as the years past it became a thing of memory.....Burnley fans in today's era are too young to remember, happy clappers, families and people beaten into submission.....
Was speaking to a couple of the older "lads" at back of the Turf pub pre bas*ards away and one commented "it's nice to see all these young lads turn up so well dressed but in my day i'd of been worried about ruining or getting my jacket nicked"cutsy123 wrote:Now its who can wear the best jumper and stand on the back tables of the prinny
It's a completely different era now....the young lads today couldn't even imagine how it was back then! Back then it was encouraged and expected....by all sides! It's how we grew up....and I won't lie....it was good fun! But like I say, those days are over nowbfccrazy wrote:Was speaking to a couple of the older "lads" at back of the Turf pub pre bas*ards away and one commented "it's nice to see all these young lads turn up so well dressed but in my day i'd of been worried about ruining or getting my jacket nicked"
Completely different era now - think most fans over age of 25 have seen or ended up involved in some sort of trouble at a match but as you said earlier - it isnt worth doing 5 years for now.COYC73 wrote:It's a completely different era now....the young lads today couldn't even imagine how it was back then! You sound genuinely disappointed. Sad, sad man.COYC73 wrote:It's a completely different era now....the young lads today couldn't even imagine how it was back then! You couldn't even begin to understand......You obviously didn't grow up like thatTheFamilyCat wrote:You sound genuinely disappointed. Sad, sad man.
Thats how it was thoTheFamilyCat wrote:You sound genuinely disappointed. Sad, sad man.
Thankfully I didn't grow up wanting to spendy Saturday afternoons brawling.COYC73 wrote:You couldn't even begin to understand......You obviously didn't grow up like that
Wasn't that you "wanted" to brawl when younger - it's just how it was for quite a few people. I got into more scraps as a kid than most kids nowadays but that was just part and parcel of growing up how/where I did. That naturally led onto getting into a scrap if a mate was in trouble at football on a Saturday..... Was the norm pretty much.TheFamilyCat wrote:Thankfully I didn't grow up wanting to spendy Saturday afternoons brawling.
As for "understanding", really? Don't try and over-complicate it.
......... But that is how it was .....TheFamilyCat wrote:Only if you wanted it to be.
Don't try and patronise me with any "that's how it was ********" as if you had no choice.
Good for you, you grew up in a nice area with loving parents and turned into a happy clapper.....I won't hold it against youTheFamilyCat wrote:Only if you wanted it to be.

They don't have a clue....they really couldn't begin to understand how it was....cutsy123 wrote:Some.of these shirters have no idea

You get in and can't find the ******* way out.
I saw "how it was". There's nothing to "understand".COYC73 wrote:They don't have a clue....they really couldn't begin to understand how it was....
Maybe you do understand then if you saw how it was and you really grew up in one of these areas, looks like you had a choice to stay out of it.....I wasn't given that choice. I couldn't run and hide.....TheFamilyCat wrote:I saw "how it was". There's nothing to "understand".
checking out the fans pictures from the Burnley Express every week it appears to me that most of them are on zimmer frames, statins or have their carer with them.COYC73 wrote:Burnley fans in today's era are too young to remember, happy clappers, families and people beaten into submission.....

Isn't their ground called " BELLEND RD" ?bfccrazy wrote:Wouldnt surprise me - some of the biggest bellends I've seen supporting football seem to be Leeds fans.

The 80s and 90s were wild days to be a claret fan.The casual scene was all the rage. How you dressed was important.Football violence was at its peak.Burnley like everyone else had a firm.Lads from Accy road , Brunshaw ,Burnley wood ,Duke Bar all the different areas of Burnley joined up as one.Not forgetting the Accy lads. All ready to defend Burnley home and away. When the crowds were shite at the turf there was a big representation of football lads,Who used to sit in the cricketfield stand. The Suicide Squad as we were known. Most of us left it behind in our youth and have grown old nowCOYC73 wrote:Maybe you do understand then if you saw how it was and you really grew up in one of these areas, looks like you had a choice to stay out of it.....I wasn't given that choice. The family cat couldn't begin to understand it......he used to hide in his bedroom during the week and then sat on the Bob Lord on Saturday with the rest of the happy clapperscold claret wrote:The 80s and 90s were wild days to be a claret fan.The casual scene was all the rage. Most of us left it behind in our youth and have grown old now
