If I had to guess, a conversation went...
"Well, that's OK. Mark's in the clear over the Aluko thing."
"Yes; hopefully there's nothing else in his past"
"Do you remember that fuss over inappropriate behaviour a few years back?"
"Yes. He was cleared. I never saw the details. Did you?"
"No."
"Did anybody?"
"Errr... no.... oh ****!. Get me the details... ****! Was he okayed to continue after this?"
"Yes"
"Why?"
"Pre-Bennell. Different time."
"What would we do now?"
"Sack him"
"Right then......"

What other job do you get cleared of wrong doing...twice and still get the sack?
Kick it out have too much say in the game. They have done good in the past but recent it seems they can't accept a not guilty verdict?

You have noticed the FA stressing it's not related to the Aluko thing, haven't you? If they wanted to sack him over that, they could have. While there are doubtless people who will now have an agenda against Sampson because of how he acted to the brave, fearless, noble truth-seeker Aluko (or the tawdry, brazen liar Aluko playing the race card because it's easier than winning your place back - your money, your choice), if they found something else that merited this action, so be it.

Might be connected:
Tweets by Eni Aluko....
"It goes without saying I'm delighted, relieved, blessed to be sat where I am right now. Blessings in disguise are often the best blessings."
8:02 PM - Sep 19, 2017
"For the most together team in the world tonight's "message" only shows a level of disrespect that represents division and selfish action."
8:08 PM - Sep 19, 2017
Eni Aluko hits out at 'selfish' England Women after public show of support for under-fire boss Mark Sampson
The exuberant scenes after Nikita Parris netted the 11th-minute opener against Russia were the clearest indication yet that Sampson has the full support of his players

It might very well be a witch hunt but, yet again, it's the FA that are coming out of this with dirty hands. What on earth is going on? This is not someone who has sneaked through the system decades ago. This is a man that has been dismissed due to a serious safeguarding issue, in the modern era, whilst heading up the academy at Bristol. Regardless of what the issue is, the FA have turned their backs on the matter, to protect' (in their words) the innocent party. Heads should roll. Our Football Association is run by a group of corrupt officials. And we call FIFA fit to burn...

The FA Committees who cleared him of wrongdoing in the racism case did such a whitewashing job that they've been called to report to Parliament over it.
And people still think Aluko is the one in the wrong. Stitch up.

I'll take the word of the independent barrister thanks.
Not sure why you expect anyone to think your more clued up than her about this situation to be honest.

She didn't even take evidence from the player who he insulted, so I wouldn't take her word for it at all.
Whitewash from the outset.

Sounds like there's more than one instance of his having an inappropriate relationship with a member (or members) of a female U18 squad he was previously responsible for.
No laws broken apparently, but not exactly a healthy situation. Given that this was investigated before he got the England job, you have to wonder what kind of due diligence was done.

So, a Select Committee hearing being called means there was wrongdoing? I thought it was a process to understand the facts. Unless, of course, you've already made your mind up.

Horrible witch hunt, though once the chip on shoulder woman played the race card the FA did all they could to sack Sampson but cleared twice they still didn't want even the merest whiff of any "sexism/racism " so found somat else to sack him for .Lets face it who Wouldn't be sh@gging the str8 ones in a woman's team ? Seems the teammates really backed him as well.More shocking FA generation snowflake behaviour .
Some of the righteous indignation and "feminazis" which were out in force on BBC radio 5 live yesterday just didn't want to know he'd been cleared twice really beggared belief .

Who the hell's going to want the job after all this ?
Will they feel honour bound to bring Eni Aluko back into the Squad, and how will that play with the current players after what she's tweeted about them !
From what we've been told. it seems that only person to lose their job in all this, is the person who's been cleared in three seperate enquiries of wrongdoing !!

He's been sacked for inappropriate and unacceptable conduct at Bristol Academy - it's a report from 2015 which wasn't read in full by top brass until last week they deemed it too much But if you want to know more you'd have to ask one of the women who were in Bristol Academy's first team between about 2009 and 2012. - Unless someone leaks it to the press.
He essentially needed counseling in what was acceptable behavior of a football coach towards young women he was coaching.
They say he would have been sacked in 2015 if they'd read the report then.

She has behaved with no class. Twice proven not guilty and she still won't let it go. Pathetic

The FA truly are shambolic, gutless cowards ,and likely terrified of their own shadows .The way they act vaguely reminds me of one big HR department (in other words utterly useless knee jerk gossips with no idea of either the product or the public they serve .I imagine GregClarke only has to fart and Martin Glenn has the dump for him .

Just heard the interview with the FA. Dear god they've left themselves wide open on this one and I fully expect it to cost them a lot of money when legal proceedings commence.
Basically been sacked by his current employer for something which happened at his old workplace, which was fully disclosed at the time of his new employment with England!!

I've just read the article on BBC Sport. I hope the FA gets taken to the cleaners by Sampson.

The Football Association is nothing more than a Gentlemen's Club located in a plush building in London. Nearly everything they are involved in is a global joke, from football development to this saga.

Now being said that it was a six-month relationship with a player who was over 18. Not the club 18-30 shagathon that was being intimated last week. If it was undeclared to the Bristol Academy management, I can see the problem; otherwise I'm not sure what the problem is. There are plenty of people who end up dating someone who works for them. In itself, it's not a sacking offence. Perhaps more details will out.
