"Airplane" originates in the UK. As usual, we then get all misty-eyed over the French (see also "s" or "z" in verbs) and align ourselves with their "aƩroplane". Fat lot of f'ing use this linguistic marron-nezing has done us, to listen to M. Macron yesterday. We then compound the situation by slagging off the Yanks whose only fault is to not share our predisposition to fawn over the cheese-eating surrender-monkeys.
