Turfmoor has turned in to a Library...

I know this is a never ending subject, but I am seriously concerned at what used to be our fortress and teams openly admitting we make a hostile atmosphere which becomes our twelfth man, but i have to agree with aesy fans we have become a library despite efforts from 1000mph CFS byt at least they are trying. Away matches to one side every home match this season has been appalling as far atmosphere goes, and if really does need to be addressed, as that twelfth man has disappeared and it's telling especially when we need that little bit extra to get the lads over the line. Dare I say it that taking the singing our if the 3 other stands in to CFS has stopped another 10 people around them finish as they are not there tkbdnvoyrags if now? I'm not surevmyself to be honest as my don and I try to grt stuff going in JHU but to no avail.

The team also have a duty to lift the fans. In the three home games thus far we have been pretty dire creatively and therefore the atmosphere has suffered accordingly.
Create more chances equals a better atmosphere.

All the libraries that I've ever been in have had books, never seen any at the Turf! UTC

I really do think the speed singing is at least half the reason. You can't maintain any chant that's sped up every verse

It was like a library, absolutely silent. I tried from the Bob Lord stand but I'm ill so I could only shout a few times. It was like a dream in slow motion, like they didn't want to win, no urgency in the play.

There are plenty of songs that are sung slow. Stop making excuses for people. 98% of the home fans don't want to sing.
The atmosphere is fine where I sit.

As mentioned above, what happens on the pitch undoubtedly as a bearing on atmosphere. At no point during most of that match did i feel like jumping up and bursting into song.

We had a decent 5 minutes in the first half and the crowd responded so I agree 100%. We were awful today. We picked up where we left off against Palace. The only difference today was that our opposition didn't hand us a goal on a plate. That's the worrying thing. We've played WBA, Palace and Huddersfield yet we've not really created a golden chance of our own yet!

Which are the songs that are sung slowly?
They must be very slow indeed because I can't hear them.

I'm 15 and have been a season ticket for ten years now in JHU. As soon as I started coming to games, the atmosphere was brilliant in JHU, when we were sometimes a bang average Championship side. But over the last three years, the atmosphere has slowly declined and it feels like only me and five others around me are trying to make the Turf an intimidating place again. The atmosphere when we are away is outstanding and, now, the best match experiences are away games by a country mile.

The usual lazy excuse. Start your own songs then......but you won't.
We effectively now have 3 Bob Lord Stands.
Shocking

I don't know if any of your friends go in the CFS, but if they do, perhaps you could kindly ask them to slow down and inform them that it isn't a race to finish a song first!

Getting worried about our vocal home support. I feel that we are lacking. We need to make the Turf an uncomfortable place for away teams to play but we are not doing that. Yes you pay your money and do what you wish.
We need the home support to be vocal in support or otherwise the team are going to feel very nervouse and not confident.I do not understand what some of our fans expect ? We are in the best possition we have been for many a year yet some people expect more and get dejected when its not all going our way.
I REMEMBER THE DAYS OF DIV 4 playing terrible football with a very poor team but I always sung and chanted my heart out in support. Please do the same and get behind the lads you are supposed to support

it's like a home game for most away teams. It's abysmal and on a par with Watford and Bournemouth

it can get very noisy in patches and it clearly lifts the team but I think the noise doesn't carry well around the ground. When a new stand is designed for Bob Lord or CFS they should bear this in mind and also opt for one tier stands.

Fidelcastro I have not missed the thread about the libuary but i feel strong about this subject
JohnMac Maybe you should ask yourself why you support the team judging by your comment
Im not a glory hunter fan im Burnley born and bred. I support my team rich or poor (crap or brilliant) Point being is do you have passion and want the team to be lifted by your support or do you want to show the team you are ****** off and drag them down with your negativity

And that needed a separate thread, did it?
I reckon it'll be merged before long.

Atmosphere today started fine, and got worse as the performance went from OK to insipid to downright lamentable.
Same as it would in any ground in the country.

The whole debate about "the team needs to lift the fans" v "the fans needs to lift the team" has been done to death and it has been said on many occasions by pro footballers and they have said when the crowd lift the roof it lifts the whole team. So can we stop this "I pay to be entertained" bo!!ocks, if you fit in to that category go to watch a band or the cinema, we pay to go and SUPPORT our team not the team support us. Twelfth man means you contribute to the team not the the team give us an extra 11 supporters that will somehow create the fortress we need to have.

How about a few chants starting from the CFS like:
Come on Burnley
Come on you clarets
That usually gets the rest of the ground joining in. Just a thought

Nothing to do with speed singers or standard of football, we are in the Premier league btw the standard of football is arguably the best it has ever been.
It is the standard of fan that is the problem!

I was attempting to get the lads going today by shouting, ' Come on, move yer arses', when the usual dotard on the front row in our stand turned and spat, 'Shut the f--k up'. The longside never used to be like this. I feel guilty shouting any kind of encouragement to the lads nowadays. If we got behind the team more I'm sure they would respond with more passion and intensity.

Moaning needs to be cut out. How about supporting our team? There's a thought.
Think a few of our fans need a kick up the arse. Stan was a master of manipulating the fans, Dyche could learn a few tricks from him

Football stands have funny acoustics. Thread on Huddersfield fans forum described the atmosphere from the home end as loud. I'd say it was probably the quietest all season, smaller gate Tuesday but certainly louder.
From my seat, front blocks in the middle, I can very rarely hear the away fans

Just to clarify. You aren't a fairweather fan, you're from Burnley and you always sang your heart out even when we were in division 4? Just need to ask for clarification as I am not sure you made that point.
Fans act in different ways. Me personally, I had to keep cheering and shouting just to avoid falling asleep. Which annoyed fans around me who were enjoying a nap. Such was the poor standard of the game.
