I know he's a long way away from playing in the first team again but I was surprised with the news, didn't think he'd be close to playing a game yet.

So pleased for Dean Marney and I really hope he fights his way back into our first team squad.
It is staggering that so many kept saying he wasn't good enough for us in his first couple of seasons. Now I'm sure he has very few detractors.

Terrific for us. I hope he can get back to his best, although it will be a tough ask at his age.

I remember saying to my missus. 'Sadly that'll be the last time we see him in a Burnley shirt'. Thought he'd never recover from this one. Delighted with this news as he really would be like a new signing.

Dean Marney is my hero. He is a model professional and the way he bounces back from career changing Injuries is fanonminal.
Like TC says he is way in front of schedule and I didn't think he would be where he is now until February next year. He may possibly be getting on the bench in the new year

Probably his last year with us because of his age, the injuries and quality we keep adding to the squad. I really like him though and he makes the side tick. Been great for us so I hope he gets a few games when he's fully fit and had plenty of game time in the U23's.

How we've missed him, this Burnley team has always struggled without. His abensce has always coincided with a below average run of form for the team.

I think with his age and the injuries and the contract being up, whilst he might get around the first team squad in the new year this will be his last year at Burnley.

All that being said, I love the guy and really am delighted with this news and cannot wait to see him back! Possible route into coaching at the club if he decides to retire at the end of the season?

He is only 34 next year; if he gets back to a squad player-worth another year with us assuming we are still in the Premier league next season

Great to see Deano back, though it may be some weeks till he is ready for even an u23 game, like Sam it will take time to attune to regular matches again, it will be a be long road to recovery, but Dean is a great option even from the bench,Good to see Wells may be up and running soon another useful option. :D

Great news for us, even better news for Dean, I expect him to be pushing for a place on the bench at least around Christmas.

Absolutely fantastic. I must admit I didn't think Marney would ever play for us again but this is a step in the right direction. I really hope he can recover and find his previous form, it's much, much needed!

With all this time off he's had, I hope he has taken the opportunity to work on his shooting ;)

Seriously though, chuffed he is nearing fitness again as he really does bring that little bit of something extra to the team.

He has epitomised our team since dyche came in. Glad to hear he is recovering yet again.

Not sure he gets back into this side now though, I Think we have evolved.

Great news for us and him.
Where a fit Deano fits in the team is a toughy, but just having the problem would be good.

Anyone doubting whether Dean Marney would come back doesn't appreciate the character or the physicality of the man. He's an unbelievable specimen and I wouldn't be surprised to see him do a job around the squad for us fir 2/3 more seasons yet.

Dean Marney holding the midfield and protecting the back four will allow us to see more of Cork and Defour taking the game to the opposition.
Usual 5 at the back +
Marney
Hendrick, Defour, Cork, Brady
Wood

Dean has been a great servant but I feel we now have players whose talents will make it very hard for Dean to get a regular starting spot.Defours reemergence,Jack Cork ,JBG,Brady and Hendrick are all ahead in the selection process.Even Scott Arfield is looking a regular pick and I can't see Dean getting back in.
