First thing Monday morning, get Tarkowski on a new 5 year deal with a 50 million release clause.

How a few weeks can change things in football. 3-4 games ago and a large number of people were saying we needed better.

It was 1 or 3 who know nothing about football. If we have not offered by now we will ha e missed the boat with his agent on the ball no doubt.

Is it me or is Pope better or at least as good as Tom ? He has a huge presence in goal and his decision making is top class as is his distribution. I am amazed how good he looks. Didnt have tons to do today but did what he had to do perfectly.

Could it be our back 8 that make them look good. All long range shots and not much to do?

2 words.. SEAN DYCHE
It is his framework, his coaching, his staff. Its the collective team which allows these players to do what they do as they all know their jobs.

Pope is miles better in the air than Tom. Tom is a far better shot stopper and all around keeper/leader.

Agree that he looks very competent and composed. On this form he will be challenging for the number one spot in goal, I'm saying that as a big fan of Heaton.

Pope is a good deputy but more sticks to Toms hands first time.

This can only be good for the club.
I think we need to give full credit to the coaching staff, particularly Billy Mercer.

Tarks, Mee and Hendrick all out of contract at end of next season
They are all proving their worth
Don't want another situation like Keane this summer

Why on earth would we willingly insert a release clause in a player's contract?

So that we try and get a minimum, acceptable value for the player concerned - better than the small amount that we got for Trippier
I appreciate that any player and his agent generally hold the cards on such matters but these guys (espec Tarks) are getting some pretty good coverage already this season
The idea of potentially losing 3 players (Tarks, Mee and Hendrick) next summer will be hard to replace
Any release clause would only come in as part of a new contract offer

Why would Tarkowski sign that contract?

Tarkowski has done well. However if we are handing out new contracts every time someone has 5 good games in a row we really are on a sticky wicket.

Because he's seen his stock rising dramatically at Burnley whilst Michael Keanes diminishes at Everton. The players aren't daft and they will see that the grass isn't always greener. Some players will absolutely prefer to stay than gamble on a move - who knows whether Tarkowski is one of those?

Something similar for Sean Dyche.

Can't see Tarks signing a Burnley contract with a £50 million release clause in it, in fact he'd be bloody mad to. We managed to hang onto Trips as long as we did because the release clause was low and the contract gave him options to move to a bigger club.

I don't think you know how release clauses work
